How does the recent 85” C7K compare to this even though this is one generation behind.

    • +4

I'd say this is better based on dimming zones, 1586 on the C7K 85" vs 2304 on this means this should likely give a better HDR experience.

I have the 65" version and the colors and blacks are amazing. I have it on 11% brightness as it's blinding. Really great TV.

    • C7K belongs to C7 series where previous model was C755. C8 is better overall.

Though 2025 models seems to be using the same Pentonic 700 chip in 2024. Even though C8K is marketed to have 4xHDMI 2.1, but it seems other sources says it's still 2xHDMI 2.1 FRL. Probably "thanks" to HDMI forum allowing TMDS to be marketed as HDMI 2.1 even though it's the same as HDMI 2.0b.

85' is too big for me, after 75 :(

    • How big is the area the TV is in? Length seating wise mine is about 3.6m.

      • 3.6m from your eyes to the TV? And you have the 85" and it's OK size?

        • I don't have it yet, but based on videos and websites I’ve seen, an 85-inch TV is ideal for a viewing distance of around 3.5 meters.

@PlaneProof: Just found out these are sold out in WA anyway, but I still might go home and measure.

      • we have a wall between 2 windows, about 2m. 85' will fit but a bit tight and too close to windows frame. Will looking at the 75' C7K

      • That's the C7K, 2025 version of the C755. I guess it might be comparable in specs to the C855 though, not sure…

        • It's not comparable in specs to the C855, but a good buy if you are looking for an 75 inch tv. Price match with JB and combine it with discounted gift card to bring it down further.

          • @PlaneProof: I looked at C655, C755, C855 in store all playing the same thing. C655 was horrible (as expected, not miniLED), C755 and C855 looked the same to my eye other than brightness, and C755 brightness probably plenty enough for me. So I think I would be fine with a C7K for the right price. I would like to see the C6K in person now that 6 series is miniLED though…

            • @bleeder: The challenge with viewing tvs in store is that they can look quite different in your own room, especially at night. Store displays are usually set to very bright settings to stand out under showroom lighting. Honestly for most types of content the difference isn’t that massive in regular viewing condition for the C755 & C855.

I still find bigger screen = more immersiveness. I still watch plenty on 720p on 110" projection even though I've got a 85C845 LOL

    • Same, I'm gonna go home measure my wall again, but I'm pretty sure it's still gonna be too big hahah. Unfortunately by the time I get home this deal will probably be sold out…

    • That's what she said 🤣

  • No stock in WA :(

  • this was $1994 at good guys before they ran out of stock

This is listed on JB website, but in reality you could bargain in a local store and sometimes they can give further discounts, especially if you're buying their display model.

      • I hear display model is a no no for OLED as they have limited life, but I think it's ok for miniLED?

        • There will be some effects as demo mode usually crank brightness to the max.

Though I can’t tell mine even I know it’s been on for thousands of hours.
