Philips Pressurised Steam Generator - GC8635 - $376 Less $100 Cashback

20

I was looking for a pressurised steam iron and came across this deal. The Billy Guyatts website seems to have the lowest price on this iron out there, plus the $100 cashback from Philips makes it even cheaper!

I am considering buying this myself at the moment coz I think it's such a good deal. Delivery is about $10, so total is $386 but after $100 Cashback from Philips means $286.

Anyone using a pressurised steam iron, can you tell me if it's better than a normal iron?

The price of this thing makes me steam, Im under no pressure to buy it.

    • Common guys, that was a witty comment.

  • seems cheaper then other website.. best i could see in HN is 398 after cash back but are these iron worth this much?

    • I used to have a tefal steam generator, and a sunbeam one. And they work like those el-cheapo steam cleaners advertised on danoz direct. So instead of ironing normally, you steam your clothes with an iron that emits steam. It does get rid of wrinkles easier than a normal iron, but you need an ironing board with holes or perforations on the bottom so that your clothes do not get wet since you are steaming your clothes. But the bad thing is they are bulky, take 2kw of power, and need to be descaled now and then. Now, I use a normal sunbeam steam iron and that does the job easily as well.

      • If you turn off the steam function, it acts like a normal iron.
Obviously you only use steam at the areas that have tough winkle.
Wet clothes? LoL, do you run the steam on full blast the whole time you are ironing?

        • Actually I recently purchased the model up from this one and there is ONLY a steam function, it doesn't work well at all as a normal iron as the hotplate never changes temperature. You have no other settings apart from fire steam or spray water. However the clothes do not get wet. According to the manual the hotplate is heated just enough to keep the steam dry… I'm going to have to take them on their word.

Anyway the main benefit is you do not have to fiddle with settings for different sorts of attire e.g. Delicates, jeans etc.
