Recommendations for Food Thermos

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a thermos to keep my son's lunches warm.
I see a lot of food jars on Amazon, but I don't know what brand is best.

-Needs to stay warm for a minimum of 5 hours.
-Easy to wash by hand.
- Leak proof (ofcourse).
- Can take being dropped from a backpack every now and then.
- 450ml - 750ml.
- Preferably comes with a spoon.

Even if I could get a brand recommendation, that would be great.

TIA 🙂

Zojirushi or Tiger. They have 8h(?) of thermal retention but they are not cheap.

Some of the thermos brand ones leak.

    "Preferably comes with a spoon"

Just use your own spoon. Any spoon that fits within the lid will be a cheap foldable plastic spoon.

Our kids use this to take to school- https://retail.smashproducts.com/products/stainless-steel-fo…

Downside is that it's not dishwasher safe (doesn't seem an issue for you).

We had a Tiger with a plastic lid. Kid dropped and cracked the lid and now it's useless as I can't find a replacement lid.

I heard from other parents at primary school that they work best if you fill with freshly boiled water first and rinse.

We used this when kids were at school (never had any issues with leakage)

Metal foldable spoon. Also as sam-1966 suggested, we’d fill with hot water leave for 10min before filling with lunch

  • Thanks everyone. I'll try the ones recommended and put them in a plastic freezer bag, just in case it leaks.

I'll get a smash and a thermos one and give each of them a go. It's good to have 2 of them anyway. One as a spare.
And no, we don't have a dish washer. We have mum to do the dishes by hand 😏

We have a zojirushi and a Thermos brand. Both are great for 4 - 5 hours
