What's hard to tell about this?

Included components - Motorbar™ Cleaner head, Combination Tool, Docking station, Hair screw tool, Charger, Crevice Tool.

Final image also shows all included accessories.

    • Well, if you're an idiot like me, you didn't click on the additional info link! Thank you :)

      • "So it sounds like the only thing missing is the charging base (to hang it up)."

Pretty sure that the docking station and the charging base are the same thing.

  • It comes to $358.99 for me after applying the $15 and $10 discount codes on Amazon Business.

V8 is perfectly fine, it does the job for a medium sized house.

V10, V12 etc are also good but you're paying a premium.

I have this exact model and it is terrible. I have vowed to help other people with the warning I wish someone had given me: these do a rubbish job at vacuuming and run for only ten minutes at full power. According to many people's experience, the plastic parts are easily broken. Suggest folks check the reddit on vacuums before buying a "Dies soon".

      • I think Dyson expect you to use this at low power and only switch to MAX when you need a boost. That’s what I do.

        • +2

Well they had to do something. It's not their fault that current battery tech means the battery is only about 65 Watt-hours (I believe).

The problem is that they are marketing this as if that is enough to vacuum your home with. It's not even close. That means at max power (less than 10 mins) it is presumably delivering only about 390 watts to the motor - compare this with the 1200 to 2000 watts of traditional vacuums, or even the 900 watts of the new "eco" models from Europe.

And when it's running on low power with the spinning roll, it manages about half an hour on what must therefore be about 130 watts - which is so feeble it struggles to pick up anything beyond the lightest dust in my experience. Cannot deal with larger objects and leaves most stuff in crevices untouched.

I second this 100% but with the v10. Terrible vacuum cleaner that only lasts 10 minutes if that and cleaning is no better than a random no name brand one from Amazon. A waste of $550.

You can get converters where you can use bosch, de walt, makita hand held batteries which people say works amazing. It does make the handle heavier but you can do a whole house on max.

      • My brother bought maketa battery and attachment for his V8. It works wonderful however you need to know if you do this you won't be covered by warrenty.

  • Anyone know if these have a trigger that you don't need to hold in the whole time you're using it? Like can you just press it to turn it on then press again to turn it off?

    • I wish; This one DEFINITELY requires you to hold down the trigger the whole time.

      • Bugger, thanks mate. We have a xiaomi that's a bit past it now so looking to replace it. Not needing to hold the trigger is such an underrated feature!

    • There's a cheap attachment on eBay that does this. Just search 'dyson trigger lock'

    This v the V10….?

I fix these up from hard rubbish all the time.
Go to GitHub, flash the "dead" battery. Good to go. So used em all. We decided to keep a V8.

V8 has more suction on the lower setting. Is lighter and less noisy.

V10 has a higher "boost" suction, but the Dyson batteries can't handle that output and will "die" prematurely.

    • Neither! Check comments online

    • I have had the V6, V8 and V10.
I would recommend the V8 over the V10.
Based on specs, V8 has more base suction power, but the V10 has more boost power.
I also much prefer the ergonomics of the V6 and V8. The V10 body is very large and it is cumbersome to use. Also the 'easy eject' bin shoots dirt everywhere.

      • Dyson always seem to advertise newer models as having an additional X% suction over the previous model, but they are comparing boost mode suction. At the same time Dyson advises users against using boost mode regularly as it decreases battery performance.
Dyson are sacrificing lower base mode suction for increased battery runtime. Not really an upgrade at all in my opinion.

  • Slightly related, but I have a v7 and looking for a new fluffy head for hardwood flooring. The Dyson ones are ridiculously priced, and then the after market varies in price (eBay has them for $30, Amazon for $50). By any chance, has anyone bought one and they’re happy with it??

    • We bought one after market from Amazon and it does the job. Personally I can't tell the difference.

    • I bought an Aliexpress one with the LEDs (like the 'laser' ones that are on the newer models). It works fine, I wouldn't say it's any worse than the genuine one.

Just checked eBay (I have plus) and it’s the same price plus they have a $30 off voucher bringing it to $353 delivered

    • Link please? Amazon doesn't want to ship to any of our addresses

    • Thanks
Have an old dreame vac thats battery is cactus and some of the accessories are broken, so cheap enough replacement for our use (basic spot vac/cleaning)

    • Thanks for the tip. I just signed up to eBay plus for a month and got the $30 coupon as well. I bought the refurbished one for $276 +$4.99 (eBay plus).

  • Any recommendations for a Dyson-like cordless vac from the suite of Amazon brands?

My V6 has finally carked it and really just need something medium-strength (pet hair), gives me 20 min run time and just reliable. No carpet here.

  • We have a Kelpie in a house with mixed hard and carpeted floors. How would this go with getting rid of the dog hair? A Xiaomi stick vacuum struggles - 5 passes and it still won't pick the hair up

    • It does have the attachment for the pet hair. So maybe a good thing? If you know anyone who has one, can you borrow and test it?

I’ve noticed that newer models have the feature where the hair doesn’t get caught up in the rollers. The pet hair attachment apparently has that feature.

There are YouTube videos about this that I’ve seen.

    • It suffers the same problem, I can attest.

  • Great product to cause PAIN around your neighborhood.
If they do not have variable motor control yet. They are friggen too loud.
Muffle the head on the dyson and put it downstairs as too loud.
Bloody stick vac's, they suck alright,

Robot has variable motor control so can be loud and quiet depending how much you want it to suck.

    • Unfortunately my robot doesn’t get behind doors yet. I need both

I like my older overpriced Dysons, but original spare parts, like the battery, have been out of stock for over two years. So be warned, once it gets over a certain age, you'll have to settle for non-original parts…

Next vac I think will be ryobi one+ based so I can get batteries at the local bunnings…

    • +1

The original batteries are criminal anyway.

They purposely left the balancing out. If a cell goes more than 0.03v out, you get the 10 flashes. Perfectly good batteries…Dyson thinks they are dead.

Secondly, the single row can't handle the output.

      Never buy a Dyson..ever.

Get a drill battery adapter from AliExpress and use a 4ah minimum battery. 2.5ah will be ok if you don't use the boost feature.

  • +2

So anyone been successful in getting a full refund from Dyson from their false statement that it never loses suction, ever?

Clearly false. Would be an easy win.

100% false and has clog points everywhere. Older ones at the flap, newer as the stupid right angle hole.

Does make an easy fix when found on hard rubbish though.

I would like to try on the basis of simply being not fit for purpose

  • I found Samsung jet 75e to be a much better vacuum

    • Good, just ordered one of these to replace our very old V6, came to $450 from the Samsung education store

      • Good Guys price beat is $437

  • Does anyone know what the best handheld vacuum is in the ~$200 range? I've had one of these before and it definitely didn't last as long as I wanted it to

  • Recommend - ours is about 6-7 years old and still going strong. I have had to replace the dust bin, battery and head with aftermarket ones but it was relatively cheap.

  • What's best site people usetoo get replacement heads for these v8s, can't fault the item it's self except maybe longer battery time , but it's been banged and dropped on wooden floors multiple times and keeps rolling definitely 5years plus now

  • I got an $80 amazon dyson rip off job, does the trick.
