Pools: Acid and Testers - What and Where to Buy?

Hi,

I just built a pool and started my research about pool acid and water testers (ph, temp etc) it is a standard Leisure pools mineral pool.
What is the best place to get acid and which acid to get and what kind of a tester do you get? I thought the water will be tested by the chlorinator but apparently you also need a floating device.

Thanks

  • I usually get acid from a local pool shop.

  • There must be dedicated pool forums??. Ask there or throw your $$$ out the window.

Also does anyone else miss the ye olden days, when ppl who invested thousands of dollars in an asset, did some homework before the build was finished?

Excuse me, mind you, before you start to teach me how to live my life… It's the pool that my wife wanted, I am just trying to help to take care of it. Was not my baby. The things we do for love. :-)

After you get the "What" sorted, google the name of the chemical and in the shopping tab, pick the one that fits your price point.

just go to your local pool shop they offer free water testing and is more comprehensive than cheap ones you can do at home.

    • Yep, barbeques galore near me used to do it and they print a report telling you exactly what to put in.

  • https://clearchoicelabs.com.au/ make good test kits. I buy my acid from Bunnings because it's cheaper than the local pool shop.

  • Learn how to test yourself. Acid and PH I think is one of the easier ones to control once you 'get to know' your pool and what it roughly needs.

Sourcing acid from bunnings - its generally kept in a little cabinet down in the trades/timber section - not in the pool section. I assume its something to do with the dangerous goods storage requirements?

someone else above mentioned troublefreepool - the forum is a great source of info too. Read, read & read - then you'll be able to do it yourself and not be fleeced!
