But 50$ for a hood is the opposite of a bargain
we never buy at rrp, that $50 could become $10 … one day…..
I recall the Halo with hood was $125 back in May
@reactor-au: It's been cheaper, but out of season (August and November last year) where they were $99-$103.
In what way is the Kmart one better? Genuinely curious.
Yeah same, more info please.
Do Kmart even sell down jackets, or just puffer jackets with synthetic (cheap) fill?
Brother, what?
XDDD bro is flabbergasted
Yeah man, also piqued my interest. How so??
actually its cheaper at kmart. $35
Filling contains a minimum of 80% recycled polyester made from recycled materials
But that one's not hooded. I thought they must be talking about the $49 hooded puffer. Regardless this seems to be an apples to oranges comparison.
Also curious
Do you have a link?
i have
I bought a cheap Big W puffer (polyester obv) a few years ago. All I can say is "swoosh-swoosh, swoosh-swoosh".
Stop the cap
Hood annoying, when do you ever wear it.
The uber version of these are the actual deal.
When it's raining? when your neck or ears are cold?
How is a hood annoying?
Umbrella lol
Never see anyone with a hoodie on wearing the hood. Maybe if you're going to the snow. Not the best water resistant jacket anyway. get a soft shell.
@bohn: I got a Macpac Halo Uber version, bit lighter and rolls up small, almost a bit too warm still for BNE. The vest version is great too popping out during the day when it's not too cold (as are normal hoodies).
Those soft shell jackets like Helly Hansen are good for the wettest months.
Yeah not a fan of hood either.
100% im in no-hood camp.
I never buy with hoodie.
100%. Hood is everything!
Jackets without hoods are warmer. The same amount of down is stuffed in less surface area.
just get a beanie lol…
Is this down jacket true to size? rr we need to buy one size up
V1 was size down very roomy, I think the v2 is tts though
Reviews suggests they run a little larger to size which imo is good so you can later up underneath.
TTS imo - you will usually want to layer something under anyway (other than a shirt of course)
Been using this jacket since a similar deal from 2023. 10/10, great for the price. Durable too.
consider south face ?
No hood no robinhood, not good la
Thanks bought one!
this or the one from Aldi in another week for $50?
https://www.aldi.com.au/product/crane-performance-men-s-down…
The Aldi one is apparently 800 loft down at 90/10 down/feather vs this one's 600 loft down at 80/20 down/feather. Can't tell everything from those numbers alone, but I think I still might hold off and check out Aldi.
Aldi one has higher loft (800 vs 600) and better down quality (90/10 vs 80/20), offering more warmth.
Loft (e.g., 800 or 600): This measures the fluffiness and insulating power of the down. Higher loft (like 800) means better warmth for less weight and bulk.
Down/Feather ratio (e.g., 90/10 or 80/20): This tells you the percentage of down vs feathers. More down (like 90%) means better insulation, lighter weight, and more compressibility.
So:
800 loft = warmer, lighter, more efficient.
90/10 down/feather = better quality than 80/20.
By numbers, Aldi jacket looks like the better deal for warmth and performance.
Got an similar Aldi one on clearance for $30 last year and very happy with it.
Where does Uniqlo ultra light down fit into the mix?
the 600/800 is the fill power, you should also look at the fill weight (which crappy manufacturers don't provide)
The fill weight is how much down there is in the jacket.
If they're not telling you the fill weight, then there might not be much down in there.
P.S. full disclosure I have the version 1 of this macpac (with hood) since 2017, this jacket is considered defacto ozBargain winter uniform.
Equally (or more) importantly- Aldi wins on price tag too!
@Craze: And no hideous logo.
I really dislike companies who think the consumers are walking billboards. Often the more expensive the price tag the more obnoxious the branding is. looks at LVMH/Gucci/Fendi
@t25: Superdry is another serial offender on this front also.
I don't mind subtle logo cause it is your product at the end of the day, but be practical and reasonable!
I like the feel of macpac, very soft and doesn't make noise, only annoying thing is sleeves are too long. I haven't tried aldi one.
Thanks, was waiting for the $99 deal to appear (no hood > hood)! Checked out as guest, didn't need account.
If you have commbank yello they have $15 cashback if you spend $80 or over at BCF[targeted]. Just fyi.
Thank you ! $84 delivered was a steal
Women size 6 out of stock in VIC 🥲
Great quality jacket. close to 8 years, still good.
Nice! been waiting for a deal with no hoodie!!
Women's jacket has less feathers compared to men's
I have both and prefer this one from uniqlo https://www.uniqlo.com/au/en/products/E470118-000?colorCode=…
its more lightweight and looks better imo
It's not as hardcore.
If you liked that then you would like Macpac Uberlight more
100% polyester fill isn't the same
What’s the return policy?
Now is $139 - is it ended for BCF's Wednesday Golden Hour?
This is called Thursday
New Macpac store at Southland VIC has Halos at $99 in store if anyone is local and missed this deal.
Picked up today, so much warmer than my Uniqlo one.
Picked up today, and its so good.
FWIW the Uni Hill outlet in Bundoora only offering them at half off the retail of $279
no hood no deal
