Do You Think Most EOFY Mobile Phone Offers Are over Now?

Recently we have seen a few great discounts (or clearances) namely:

  • Samsung S25 Edge Edu Pre Orders - with Phone and Earbuds purchases without tradeins for circa $940.

  • Pixel 9 Pro (128gb) for $699 from Telstra.

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 256gb for $597 from The Good Guys.

  • Pixel 8 128gb for $399 from The Good Guys.

  • Pixel 8 Pro 128gb for $499, 256gb for $599 from Telstra.

  • Motorola Edge 50 Neo for $200 from Sydney Mobiles eBay (Nov 2024).

These were some great deals. I am wondering if you are in the market and if you are anticipating any more upcoming mobile deals? The only ones I can foresee are markdowns on Samsung Flip and Fold models with v7 of both coming out shortly.

I am aware that tech products have a limited shelf life and these will go in value eventually. This discussion is more around cyclical clearances.

Note: I have Pixel 8 Pro 128 (sealed - for my wife) and S25 Edge for myself and was wondering if we should open the Pixel 8 pro or hold on for better deals/clearances.

      Australia voted 'no' to nuclear.

We already have plenty of free and abundant nuclear energy.

          Not at night.

          • @jv: Storage will be sorted many, many years earlier than we could build nuclear facilities.

              @try2bhelpful: Maybe, maybe not…

              • @jv: Better odds than the horrific costs of nuclear. For a start private industry is interested in putting money into storage development. Most nuclear facilities in the world are bankrolled by Governments. They also tend to run massively over budget and over time.

                  Better odds

Shouldn't be gambling on our future.

What about the horrific costs and environmental impact of batteries for our base load power?

                  • @jv: Nuclear is still much worse environmentally.

                    • @try2bhelpful: No it's not. Especially the new Gen IV reactors that are currently being planned.

                      • @jv: Yes it is by the time you have to tear down and dispose of the nuclear reactors plus the waste they generate. If you want to look at future technologies then they are likely to develop storage options that are more environmentally friendly than the current lot. Storage doesn’t just mean a battery.

                        • @try2bhelpful: Some goes for batteries

                          • @jv: We can bat this back and forth but the reality is renewables are on the ascend and nuclear is falling off. The timeframes for nuclear in this country make it completely unfeasible. As Canavan said nuclear was just an excuse so the LNP could continue to burn fossil fuels, they were never serious about it. We have a big nuclear reactor that will provide fuel for as long as the planet is habitable and the fuel is delivered free to site. Storage will provide any base load requirements. Transition is required but that is where the smart money goes.

Nah. It was honoured by Telstra. Tbh Pixel 8 pro for $499 was much better value if you like large phone.
