YouTube Premium via Apple Türkiye Being Cancelled?

Has anyone that is currently subbed to YouTube Premium using an Apple account from Türkiye (using iTunes gift cards from Turgame) had their YT Premium cancelled recently?

My account just reverted this evening.

  • Apple Türkiye account loaded with gift cards from Turgame (yes there is credit there).
  • As of the evening of June 25th, my YT account no longer shows premium or has premium features.
    cards.
  • YT Premium sub was successfully debited from the account yesterday on June 24th (Apple sent me an invoice for the monthly renewal as per usual)

I’ve gone through my emails and can’t see any from Google or YT…

My guess is that they’re now starting to shadow restrict accounts based on the location where the account is used the most?

EDIT:
Some people seem to have had success opening the YT app on the iOS device that has the Apple Turkey account on it and just reselecting the sub. It might be due to inactivity on the device/account. I’ll check once I’m home and report back.

EDIT2:
Can confirm: Opening the YouTube app on the device associated with the Apple Turkey account fixes it.

  1. Open the YT app on the device associated with your Apple Turkey account.
  2. Tap the “You” menu in the bottom right.
  3. At this point the “Welcome to Premium” screen popped up for me and took over my screen.
  4. I waited a few moments, restarted the app, and when it loaded again, I had Premium back.

All my other devices are back to YT premium now too. I have no doubt I’ll be booted again in the future, but for now I hope this helps anyone that finds themselves in a similar situation in the future :)

  • Mine was charged earlier this week. Still working. Although i created a new account for the sub holder and we all joined their family. The subscription account has not actually ever watched a youtube, or done anything at all, except sub to google one and youtube.

Heads up: it looks like this is being clamped down on as well, but I have my fingers crossed for you 🤞

YouTube is getting increasingly aggressive in enforcing its location rules for YouTube Premium, especially for family plans. Subscriptions are now being cancelled if family members live in a different country than where the plan is billed even if the family owner lives in the correct country.

Previously, users could often resubscribe after such cancellations. Now, if the issue lies with the family members locations, the family plan is permanently removed from the owners account, with no option to resubscribe.

  • Still working here ATM🤞

But at $40AUD a month, I won't be signing up 'locally'….. That is crazy.

      • The “lite” subscription is a joke as well.

$11.99 a month for what is standard YT with fewer ads.
        - No background play or PiP.
        - No downloads.
        - No YT Music (this is fine).
        - Music vids and YT shorts have ads.

WTF. I’m not paying to still have ads.

All people want is a YT Premium tier that’s cheaper and doesn’t have YT Music included 🤦🏻‍♂️

    I never pay for YouTube

    • If you don’t pay then you are the product

      • Yes, I am both a product and a service…

  • My youtube premium is through Apple India (individual plan, not family) and is going fine.

It seems to have “restarted” my Premium sub though, as my profile now says that I have been a premium member since June 25 (today). All of my stats have reset too.

Can also confirm: All my other devices are back to YT premium now too.

Thank you for coming along this ride with me. I hope this helps someone else in the same position.

It's almost as if this is public community forum where people can ask questions and talk amongst themselves.

If this was 100% a me problem:

        1. Why are there people in the poll saying that they are also having the same issue?
        2. Why would I have found a solution to the exact same problem on Reddit if I was the only one having it?
