KVM Splitter - What Am I Not Understanding?

Hello! I really need a KVM splitter to swap easily between two laptops.
The issue is, I can't seem to find one that meets my needs and I don't know if I'M not understanding, and it's really simple.
But it seems hard to be able to find one that deals with multiple monitors - i.e, I want to be able to choose which laptop is on which monitor, and is also controlling the mouse.

See my diagram here:

Have looked at heaps on Amazon - not too fussed on price, as long as I don't get ripped off (i.e it doesn't have to be dirt cheap, but I don't want to buy the wrong thing at high cost).

  • I had a siilar issue a few years back. I had 2 monitors, 3 pcs. I purchased an Alogic dock, plus 2 switch adapters, for the monitors?
I used a Logitech mx anywhere keyboard and mouse, so i could select up to 3 devices via BT

    • Thanks, working okay so far? Does it have hotkey support? Where did you purchase from?

I'm also thinking two switches might have to be the go…

  • I think you want this: https://www.tesmart.com/products/hdk402-m24?variant=46301306…

The reason for suggesting the 4-port model, is so that you can have the two outputs from each PC as a separate input into the switcher, and then on the switcher you can choose which input is routed to each monitor. This should give you the flexibility you are after in a nice easy unit.

    • This is what they need, but $740 is a real pricey bit of kit for switching monitors around

  • I think you are making a complicated scenario more complicated.

If you have two laptops and two monitors and want this level of control you can have both monitors connected to a docking station (by connecting them to the other HDMI or non HDMI port), then having a suitable HDMI Cable from both Monitors loose.
Also If your devices are bluetooth then why is there a hub? wouldnt be better to connect them directly to the laptop and pair them as required which would be the neatest situation.

Connect Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 to a docking station
Have a HDMI Cable from Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 under each monitor.

go to desk, place laptop on desk and connect to docking station and pair the devices if there is a single laptop being used.

if two laptops, connect one to the docking station and the other to the HDMI cable of that laptop and change input source

    OR

Remote desktop into the other laptop so you wont need to pair to both
