Stan Sport is taking over the English Premier League from Optus starting with the 2025–26 season in August. It’s part of a hefty $300 million deal that sees Nine Entertainment (Stan’s parent company) pay around $60 million a year, while Optus still chips in $40 million annually during the transition.
This marks the end of an era for Optus Sport, which first nabbed the EPL rights back in 2016. Stan’s now stacking its football lineup with not just the EPL, but also the FA Cup, Japan’s J League, and Korea’s K League
Without the EPL what is the point of Optus sport? and why the hell did they throw so much $$$ at it in the 1st place to just walk away from the rights? The kicker is they are still paying 40m for Stan (Nine Entertainment) to take the rights..
Ill also note the EPL deal is signficantly higher then the A-League deal with 10/Paramount which i also find amazing - i hope sooner or later both the AL and EPL can be on the same platform the seperation from the EPL on streamig has killed the AL
Champions league and premier league at one place. Finally something good for us and worth spending money on Stan Sports.
