That… Actually seems like an excellent deal?

    • +3

Yes especially if you are trading Switch games which is losing value and flooding the 2nd hand market

      • First party switch games never lose value.

        • True, but $50 each for a couple of Switch games is not a whole lot less than you could get for selling on marketplace, and without having to deal with people trying to lowball you.

I traded in a couple of games I finished years ago and have been sitting on my shelf since.

  • +5

Outside of benefiting from pre-owned copies of ac vi for $36 at ebgames, all other titles are pricy for the gain.

    • +4

Don’t be like me and waste 10 minutes trying to find Assassin's Creed..I see now this refers to Armored Core 🤦🏻‍♂️

      • +1

I'm so sorry, I didn't think of that.
        Apologies @brendo13

        • +1

Totally my silly fault! Thank you though

      • Top tip of the day, control +F to search for titles in a list. (or "find in page" on phone.)

  • +2

    Take note

For 'Free when you Trade' promotions, no multiples of the same game will be permitted, inclusions and exclusions apply.

    • EB let me double up at least. So if you have doubles, there's always that, I guess.

  • +2

What would be the cheapest pair to trade?

    • +3

They're (almost) only asking for the high value stuff anyway

  • +10

    Armored Core VI (PS5)
    Farmagia (PS5)
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (PS5)
    Madden NFL 25 (XSX)
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (Switch)

$39 each. Pay $78 for 2 (different games) and trade them right back to them. Easy $21/31 saving.

    • +2

      $21/31 saving.

If you were planning to pay RRP.

For these games I won't pay over $69, maybe $79 for Tsushima 2

      • +3

If you were planning to pay RRP.

Not correct. I calculated the savings against the current JB prices.

If for some reason you were planning to pay RRP elsewhere (e.g. EB Games) then the savings are technically even greater.

        JB Price -$78 = saving
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach $99 $21
        Ghost of Yōtei $99 $21
        Lost Soul Aside $109 $31
        RRP -$78 = saving
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach $124.95 $46.95
        Ghost of Yōtei $124.95 $46.95
        Lost Soul Aside $109.95 $31.95

For these games I won't pay over $69, maybe $79 for Tsushima 2

        $78 is $1 less than $79 :)

  • Wow pretty good eb games is trade two game and get it for $49

    • The EB games trade list covers a much wider list of games, including many older and cheaper titles.

      • +7

Yeah two $10 (EB base value) for ps5,switch,xbx games.

Pro tip, to check base value go to https://www.ebgames.com.au/trade
        * search for game
        * add to trade in list
        * click on blue button "Total estimate View trade-in list"

On the right will be Base Trade Price.

        • wow eb prices are very bad

        • +2

Woah they finally have a database showing us the actual values?!?

          Cheers for sharing! :O

    • +3

      Newsflash, EB sucks

      • +1

Which is why you give them 2 crappy $10 games for a new game.

    • +1

Or you do the trade 2 get it free deal on the 70 dollar games like Elden Ring (past) and Tamagotchi (current) and then return the game for the full 69.95. Couple of 2 for 30 at JB (minus 10 for Perks) and you're set, 20 becomes 70..then when you price match the game you actually want, 70 bucks off that works out a reasonable enough price.

Tony Hawk 3+4 for example, EB want 90 bucks. Price match 74 at Big W. You just paid in total 24 dollars for the 90 buck game.

      • +1

Good luck getting EB Games to price match anything that isn't 10mm from their front door.

        • I am far from EB's biggest fan but they haven't in my life once given me grief about a price match, across many a store.

          • @TheDukeOfNukem: You better go buy a lottery ticket then. I've lived in three different states and never had an EB Games have any form of relaxed approach to price matching. Every time they have tried to find a way out of having to price match rather than just being happy to do so.

      • They refund you $70 if you return the game even though you didn't pay the $70 (it was done via games trade in)?

        • +1

Yup. The way it works is let's say the games are worth 15 bucks each right, that's 30. It will say that on the docket and then it will say "bonus X.XX trade applied" to whatever value brings it up to the deal, in this case, 39.95.

When you go to pickup it gets run through same as any other purchase of a full priced 70 buck game because that's what their system sees, and that's what it sees when you ask to return it a day or two later whenever you're at the shops next.

  • Do the games still count if they have no case? I have a copy of Mario Kart 8 on Switch that I have never played

    • +1

Yeah I've never played any of my Switch games either

  • I was so surprised that JB hi-fi still accepted older games. I traded in Spider-Man 2, Stellar Blade, and FF7 Rebirth (since they're all on PC already). Also, Breathe of the Wild since it's super old (I can just play Tears of the Kingdom, it's so much better).

I got Death Stranding 2 and pre-ordered Ghost of Yotei.

  • Super generous for the age of some of the eligible Switch games.

Infact this might be the motivation I need to finally start up and finish some things I've picked up from past Ozbargain deals and use them as trade fodder :D

  • Guys am out of the loop, are these games any good?

  • -1

A game of a delivery driver while he struggles with a toddler. Sounds great…

    • Auspost/startrack most sold game.

  • +1

Tried this yesterday to preorder Ghost of Yotei. Jb could see the promo but the game wasn’t listed in their system. They have to contact head office and I’ll have to go in another day to try again. I know the game isn’t out for a while but if you advertise the deal you should be able to process it

  • +1

Cheers OP, just traded TLOU Part 1 and Spider-Man 2 for Death Stranding 2 at JB Maribyrnong. Took them a bit of time to process it tho lol.

Never got around to these titles and planning to pick them up on Steam at a discount anyway, great deal.

  • Ugh, heads up the list of eligible trade games has changed (Along with adding some more pre-orders for the deal itself)

2 of the things that were on the original list that I was planning to take in are gone now.. dammit.
