Great story, though takes a little bit to get going. There is a "new" version with additional content coming soon I think.

I was going to get this and then I saw there was an updated version called steins;gate elite that's $20 more?

  Steins;Gate is the original and uses the traditional detailed static art.
  
  Steins;Gate Elite replaces all the art with stills and animation from the anime adaptation. Much less detailed than the original art, but it's animated.
  
  Very much up to your aesthetic preference. I myself prefer the beautiful original art and treated it more like a novel reading experience. While others might prefer a text-narrated anime watch experience.
  
  Either way, it's a phenomenal story whichever style you prefer.
