Not a bad price compared to RRP.

What about compared to normal price?

      $80.99

  • Yeah that's about all to purchase from SCA.
Might need it for vehicles as the world is getting hotter. 65-75 degrees on the black bitumen. Measured 60 degrees in May 2025. Imagine if your stuck in traffic a lot.

Though I agree with getting thicker oils (and half decent synthetics) for longevity, hotter outside weather has nothing to do with engines dying.

Engines are exothermic so they're designed to operate at high temperatures. Even if its 80c on the road (assuming air temperature is that - here I would be more concerned about surviving than engine oil) the cooling system is efficient enough to keep the engine within operating temps (which is usually around 90-105c). In stop start traffic basically no load to the engine so little heat production. And under load (driving saying 80kmh), the ambient air temp on a 40c day would be 40c (or there abouts). Either or oil thickness is not important for hot days. Is helpful for cold days (ie -20c) to have super thin oil, because no oil at cold start is worse than thinner oil at operating temp

      • Yes, I agree. Also thinner oils also help with fuel economy, whereas thicker oils when hot (50 in this case) can help with oil consumption versus say a 30. This is why we need so many different grades and types of oils. Like they say in the old Castrol adds , " Oils ain't oils" you could also safely say "Engines ain't engines".
