Get the Steam Link app from the Meta Store - just download it and pair with your PC.
You could also try Virtual Desktop which is/was the popular choice before Steam Link.i have vd. no idea how to setup alyx with vd via wifi the best way
connect ur pc and vd, launch steam vr, then open half life alyx = win
@cephh: Not exactly. You have to make a change to the launch parameters of hl.alx using VD for proper operation.

Depends on the VR headset you use. Most of them work just fine with/without glasses
wear two together you still possible to do VR, however, the best way is order an prescription lens for VR and mount it with your VR headset. It's worthy from my experense.
I actually bought some prescription lenses that fit over my quest 2 lenses from amazon (ages ago so not these, but similar, few different options on there https://amzn.asia/d/fmoCIj3).
You need to know your prescription but yeah they work pretty well.
Is this game totally crap without vr? I know it's designed for vr but I dunt have vr. And I love HL.

Not sure how fun it will be thoughThere's a NoVR mod for, but I've honestly not tried it. The game itself is built around VR, so there'll likely be some sharp edges playing without VR. I don't imagine it'd be unplayable, especially if you're invested in the HL storyline, but I would suggest renting/borrowing a VR headset for a weekend, if you're able to. Used Windows Mixed Reality headsets can be had relatively cheap on ebay, and they're great value if you're just dipping your toes into VR

I also love HL but don't have VR. I tried it with the No VR mod to play for the story, and while I applaud the devs effort, unfortunately I found the gameplay too frustrating and only made it through a couple of missions.
I can see how it would slap with proper VR though.

Can you play this directly on a quest 2? (meaning standalone)
Not standalone, needs to be via Steam. Steam Link requires PC to have it up and running.
Its an impressive game, wouldn't run standalone directly on Q2. Only way it might work without a decent PC is Geforce Cloud Gaming, but still needs to run from a steam compatible device.I use Q2 with my PC and it runs really well.

very true. that's why i personally sold my q3, i couldn't justify playing other games because they couldn't compete with the quality that alyx had to offer. now ofc there's things that id like added more to the game but it's definitely the peak of all vr games.
I basically got my Vr unit during Covid to play this game, then made a few hundred dollars profit selling it :D

This is is pretty much the game that defined VR games. I finished it after a few weeks of being in total awe of the graphics and immersion, then sold my VR headset because any other game at the time was just a pathetic sandbox demo in comparison.
Absolute must-have, possibly in my top 10 games of all time.
I should finally get around to playing this, I remember "planning" to play it back in 2020 on the quest 1… Might have to dust off the "old" quest 3 and see how this goes with my rx9070xt!
