  • I have this exact projector and love it. I use desktop launcher for netflix which is a bit of a pain to navigate within but at least it works!

    • What the keystone like?
I would likely need to have this to the side, projecting to a wall

      • +1

Found the keystone to be pretty good if it's dark enough and no obstructions.

Mines in a corner next to the couch and projects to the opposite wall. Works well enough, sometimes it takes a few tries and some repositioning but nothing too major

Highly recommend the Halo+, currently a bargain.

  • Does this do 3d? Looking for a cheap 3d projector

    • Yep.

      • Do you know if it's passive or active glasses?

Efit: of looks like it uses dlp glasses like other projectors, however some comments online suggest it's not bright enough to enjoy 3d viewing

  • Stand not included, extra $123 wheew…

Edit: Found $20 stand @ Aliexpress for 3rd party brand.

    • I got an old camera tripod and drilled a hole in it and it works OK if the projectors isn't too big or heavy

If not in the eastern states (where mine was sent from, to WA and back again in a big f up), would recommend walking into a store for this one.

This is a smashing price - but at the discounted $688 that I paid, wishing I'd got the Dangbei Atom instead, which that is, a brighter, laser projector, with 3D as well, with better contrast, better performer (all around, I gather), and with proper Google TV™!

    XGIMI Mogo 2 Pro

First, I was massively disappointed that its colourspace is Limited RGB (16 to 235), oh, it'll accept Full RGB (0 to 255) but is discarding 0-15 and presumably 236-255 and stretching the limited range to suit itself. Meaning lame crushing of detail in the dark and bright ends, so either feed it full rgb and suffer the truncation, or accept that we must, at the source, squash the full range and pass limited to the projector, leading to what, banding ? Idk, resorting to the latter option is probably not even noticeable, probably. (I haven't updated NVIDIA drivers in yonks, maybe it's just me, but I doubts.) Noting that I'm not using HDR currently, but that's probably (idk) handled as mapping over the 8-bit RGB albeit limited, colour depth, despite the fact my GPU is outputting 12-bit (few programs support >8-bit). Different things. Anyway.

I never use Keystone correction for the reason of the visible light source rectangle (due to its rated contrast but it's not terrible), and also because "Keystone correction is not supported in game mode" for the reduced latency (implies inadequate processor for assumed overhead). I might've read somewhere about performance issues too (stuttering?) with Keystone enabled.

There is no auto-switching to HDMI source input on power on (of the projector).

For what it's worth, one can ease pain of tedious remote control Input selection (going through the motions…) by way of a script and hotkey: enable the projector's Android TV "Developer options" and "USB debugging" (enables Wi-Fi too), and assign the following .cmd script to a hotkey - you must set your projector's IP address (obviously demanding a static one) and adb must be in your path.

      Tl;dr
      This thing is shit crap?

      • But it's so cute, so smol. Risky click:

        (Yes, I'm a hoarder.)

I was just messing with its Brightness profiles: Vivid, Cinema, Bright, Performance, and Custom [levels 1 through 10 (Best)]

Thought I should test Performance profile again, over Custom, oh bother, the whole picture might be slightly brighter but debatable when it is totally tinted to green poop - diarrhoea! And the fan noise, I forgot it even had one.

Yes, for the price, a few negatives make it a shit crap projector, butt which they could rect-ify with a firmware up-date…

For me, it's something I can make-do with, until it dies; for PC desktop use, games and movies, it's fine in a dimly lit dungeon… But in the interim, I would be tempted by some breakthrough new tech for the right price.

Its light source bleed is a clear cut, fixed bounding rectangle extending about half a phone width beyond the image, which you can just make out.
(However, I have read reports that light bleed can be seen cloud-like out the top left (?) corner, but where I have it, not seen anything of the like; maybe only defective units or batch.)

Our XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro is still up there among the best bang for buck…

I’m only considering those with 3D support and I don’t do built-in battery obsolescence.

JMGO N1S 4K looks like the new, worthy contender!
