If you were expecting more from Civ7, or just generally thought the series went off in less fun directions after Civ4, this is might be the game for you.

It's basically a Civ game, except the time period is limited to ancient through late medieval, it's more focused on peer civs around the Mediterranean basin, and a bunch of the concepts of the Paradox games (random events with decision trees, named characters with their own personal relationships are put in charge of units or cities, generational inheritance and peer influence) get shoehorned into a more conventional tile based Civ style game. It's a game absolutely jam-packed full of ideas and systems for managing those ideas, but it's also quite flexible in terms of letting you turn off ones you don't like or don't want to dig into yet.

All the DLC is on sale for -25% also. Sacred and Profane, Wonders and Dynasties, and Behind the Throne are the ones that add a lot more to the core game.
