Is anyone actually making these last a whole month? In my experience, they're dull within a week like everything else.

Three weeks tops with every other day shaves

I found out lately that my razors seem to last longer if I use them daily rather than skip days - maybe the longer hairs cause more damage, I don't know.

Likewise. I got conned into buying this setup because of the Aussie cricketer marketing it… not impressed with this line.

      Basic Mach 3 is enough.

    • Probably 15-20 uses (Mon-Friday shave) for me. I find them the best of the disposable shavers, but the worst thing is that's there's a part on the shaver itself that contacts skin and can't be replaced, so I'm buying a new handle every 3-4 months.
I'm tempted to start using a straight razer, but they take a lot more time.

Before every shave run the blade backwards along a strop 20 or 30 times. Cheapest strop - your forearm. Best budget strop - a strip of demin from some old jeans. But there are commercial strops you can buy include strips of rubber (never really liked them but they work) or leather strops (buy the Temu version)

This will at least double the time you can shave with it.

AS ALWAYS WHEN OVERPRICED DISPOSABLE RAZORS COME UP…

Make the switch to a double sided safety razor. Blades cost actual pennies and last ages. I've been working on a <$20 box of 100 blades for YEARS!

    • how long does a shave take though

      • About the same amount of time as any other shave I've experienced.

      • if you have a heavy beard / dont shave for a few days, then double sided is quicker because it cuts away more. However you may find that there are parts of your face (for me around my nose, lips and a stupid bit on my chin) that double sided just doesnt do well. So I have a 'standard' safety razor to finish it off. Doesnt take any longer.

The main thing to remember is not to push pressure on the razor. The razor head is heavy and the razor blade is sharp. Just run it along using the weight of the razor plus a smidge; not like safety razors where you can shove the thing into your skin

    • True but I find I get a lot more cuts with it, even being careful and taking my time

    • not great for shaving against the grain

  • used to like these ones when on sale but used to cause breakouts more than when i used bulldog brand sensitive razors.

I switched to schick few years ago after gillette dropped the quality significantly! They are not the same anymore for whatever reason .I gave this gillette lab another go few weeks ago and as mentioned here it did not even feel comfortable after 3 weeks or so for every second day shave

The one good thing about this product is that it opened my eyes that disposable razors are shit, leading me to the safety razor cult.

I now get 0 irritation, a cleaner and closer shave and the blades are stupidly cheap + less wasteful.

    I would recommend:
    https://www.razorbladesclub.com
grab a Roman Empire Shaving blade; it comes with free shipping to Australia + bundled blades. You can then add as many or little blades as you would like and it would be covered under the free shipping.

    • That's a great website for building your own sampler sets also. Their range is impressive.

      • edit: Roman Empire Shaving razor

Yeah, I only bought the razor as it came with a decent assortment of blades (5*4 brands), I had never intended to use the razor, I just bought it as it gave my order free shipping but It actually gives me a much much better shave than my previous King C Gillette handle.

      • Try 'beard and blade' - https://www.beardandblade.com.au/

A comparison of a very small number of items suggests its a lot cheaper (eg 100 feather blades - $39 at B&B vs $58 plus postage at razor blade club).

For the razor itself, the cheap adjustable ones you can find on temu/amazon and co are pretty good to start with. eg although the handles can be a bit slippery

        • I got a razor plus a sample pack of 5 different kinds of blades from b&b years back and I've only just ran out. It's so so much cheaper using a safety razor.

  • Yeah screw the supermarket range of razor blades. Just look confused at the mess in cole/woolie.
MAN NEED BLADE, not plastic disposable rubbish…
