iPad 4 keyboard and case.

Hey, I'm looking for both a case and a keyboard for my iPad 4. I don't really want the 2 in 1 as I'd assume they'd be quite bulky, and I'd rather have the case for normal use and the keyboard solely for note-taking or other typing needs (university).

I'm not sure what to go for. I'd like something that's value for its money obviously, since I'm posting here, but I'd also like something of quality. I'm a rather fast typist (~145 WPM burst, around 115 sustained) so I want something that won't piss the heck out of me by not registering my presses. I use a cherry brown mechanical keyboard but I've also type decently on my Lenovo S10 keyboard.

  • Since you're looking for a separate keyboard and case, I'd suggest the Apple Wireless Keyboard and perhaps the Bamboo Workstation case.

The Apple Wireless Keyboard is quite good compared to other keyboards and has good build quality. Keypresses register fairly easily, but nothing compared to mechanical keyboards. It is a bit pricey though at around $70.

I haven't used other wireless keyboards, or keyboard cases so I can't vouch for those. They do seem a bit harder to type and much more cramped.

  • I kinda need the portability. Are Apple Wireless Keyboards portable?

  • +1 for the Apple BT Keyboard. Mine travels in an Origami keyboard case - protection that becomes a stand for the iPad when you're typing. Sensational.

I use an STM Grip case that nestles into the Origami keyboard case/stand for typing, but is also great protection for the iPad when Travelling. http://www.stmbags.com.au/catalog/ipad-cases/grip-ipad3rdgen…

  • That's quite a lot of $ though. I'll wait and see. Might just get a leather pouch for it for now.
