High End Gaming PC - Good Versus Cheap Vendors?

Been hesitating with upgrading my desktop with one of the many deals with R7 9800X3D, RTX 5080 64GB combo's.

Whilst my primary activity is CAD/3d Modeling, I do some VR gaming. Was looking at a deal with Techfast

Irrelevant at this stage, started getting lots of adds on my FB relating to companies like;
Aftershock
Evo
Nebula

and some others.

What are these companies like for service/support or are they largely irrelevant as long as the components are good?

    I highly recommend Nebula, never had an issue with the PC I've bought from them for a family member who uses it for gaming. It was a very nice and neat build.

      I've got three Nebula PC purchase experiences to go off, and they've all been good. The one issue I had with one of them was me adding a WiFi card that caused issues. Lawrence helped me troubleshoot that issue himself, and we got it resolved within the day of me reaching out for assistance. Highly recommend Nebula PC every chance I get.

  • Most of the PC builders are Melbourne based, so given you’re in Perth, you should read the warranty terms and conditions closely.

  • It is usually easier to get parts and build your own. Not much can go wrong actually.

    • I looked at this when helping out a family member and it was cheaper to buy the pre-built unit than build with the same or similar specs!

  • It's quite enjoyable to build your own, if you're interested and have the time. It will be hard to beat a pre-built on price, but at least you can spec your own components and choose where you want to spend more on quality, or skimp to save money.

    One of my goals was to have a silent running PC so being able to do achieve that was worth paying a bit of a premium for that (mainly higher quality PSU, GPU with zero RPM mode, quieter fans and efficient case).

    I appreciate that the pre-built systems have their place. But was surprised by how enjoyable it was to piece it together myself.

      Maybe, Op is upgrading. So he will be able to re-use some stuff like ssd, case, psu, AIO, fans etc.
      If he is buying a new one and selling the existing in FB marketplace vs upgrading with premium components, the price difference would be comparable.
