[Hack] Custom Burger Order: $5-$6 Whoppers, $5.95 Cheeseburger Meal/JFC Whoppers, $9 Spicy Pickleburger @ Hungry Jack's in-Store

2990

Get in while it lasts. Feel free to skip to the TLDR; section for the actual hack…

Receipt 1: https://ibb.co/8nZb3MJw (Whopper with Natural Cheese - $6.40) (Usually $10.10 or $9.30 without cheese)
Receipt 2: https://ibb.co/jPFnbTqN (Jacks Fried Chicken Whopper - $7.45)
Receipt 3: https://ibb.co/r2Lsqx9P (Spicy JFK Pickleburger - $9.35)

So I'm gonna bite the bullet and post this fully knowing that the first HJ'S SPOOK(Rep) that see's this, at their very first convenience will straight away have this outlawed in every store nationwide, but to be frank, I am over the corporate greed of these major conglomerates, and I am also sharing this to spread awareness of how much these companies are currently ripping us off. I am homeless, I sleep on cardboard, and I am on DSP so I have to live VERY frugally. I also don't have a phone to do the Shake 'n' Win thing. I am also absolutely disgusted that the Whopper has NOT returned to the voucher deals in a long time, and when I found out about this hack I was completely outraged at how much we are being rorted by this corporation. Very Un-Australian Jack Cowan! If you leave this hack here though, maybe you redeem some form of honour IMHO. Only time will tell…

So, I discovered that instead of paying '$8.95 for a Small Cheeseburger Meal', I can actually get the same thing which ALSO includes a small toy and fancy box for $5.95! Its hidden in the kid's section of the self-serve machine under 'Cheeseburger Kid's Meal'. I usually add the 'Angry Onions' for 50c extra, and upgrade it to a Biscoff Shake for another $2 extra, which comes to a grand total of $8.45, which still works out to be 50c cheaper than the adult counterpart? How does that even work…

Anyway, it doesn't stop there! After dealing with many staff/stores, begging them to give me a normal Whoppers instead of the 'Plant Based' fake meat whoppers, and the arguments that ensued just by me trying to survive, I managed to have a debate with one of the workers who tried selling me a full priced meal instead of what I requested, and whilst playing around with the POS, we both came to the understanding that there was a significant price difference between ordering a burger by ingredient VS a standalone, full menu priced burger. Also, the pricing on the self-service machines VS front counter POS can be different at times (30c vs 50c etc), and NOT all customization's are available at the self services machine. I have even noticed that ordering a full-priced meal at the counter (such as a whopper meal) CAN be cheaper than ordering at the self-service machine for some unknown reason.

They told me I shouldn't mention our interaction to anyone. I have kept it this to myself for quite some time, but now, after gaining what feels like a 100 kilos and realizing it's time for a break, its time to blow the lid off this conspiracy. Take this as my protest also, I hope it lasts a long time, but knowing how greedy the world is, I expect this to be 'patched' sooner rather than later. Sometimes you gotta to something drastic to create change, so without further ado, here it is! D:<

TLDR;

THE HACK: Just like McDonald's, you can order every ingredient separately at Hungry Jacks. The difference is, that they usually assemble what you order instead of giving it to you in 10 separate boxes for your own self assembly. Usually works out $3 cheaper than ordering a burger itself from the menu. So the process, as an example (and prices may vary between stores/states):

1) Go to the FRONT counter. Wont work at self-serve. DON'T be a GOOSE and hold up the drive through trying this method…

2) You have to ask for the following: "Can I please have a ___________________
For a Whopper ($5-$6 ea / Usually $9.20+ single item)
  • 1x 5inch Bun ($0.75)
  • 1x 5inch Beef Patty ($2.20)
  • Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles ($0.50c each)
  • Ketchup and Mayo ($0.30c each)"
  • (If you want a WHOPPER CHEESE +50c for 'Fake Cheese', and +60c for the 'Natural Cheese' - I prefer 'Natural' to trick myself that I am eating more healthier)

Double Whopper ($8.75-$9.50 ea / Usually $12-14 single item)

Same as whopper above, but substitute 1x Beef and 1x Cheese with)
- 2x 5inch Beef Patty
- 2x Cheese

CUSTOM JFC Whopper ($7.45-$8 ea)

1x 5inch Bun OR 1x 'Brioche Bun' ($0.75 to $0.80)
1x Jacks Fried Chicken Fillet ($4.10)
- Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles ($0.50c each)
- Ketchup and Mayo ($0.30c each)"
- Go the Cheese, it pairs nice with the Chicken ($0.50 Fake / $0.60 Natural (PREFERRED))

CUSTOM 'Spicy Pickle-bird' ($9.35 ea)
  • 1x 5inch Bun OR 1x 'Brioche Bun' ($0.75 to $0.80)
  • 1x Jacks Fried Chicken Fillet ($4.10)
  • Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles, Jalapenos, Gherkins ($0.50c each)
  • 'Signature Spicy Sauce' ($0.30c)"
  • 2x Natural Cheese ($0.60)
Pretty much the combinations are endless. The last 2 I created myself and to be honest, I'm starting to enjoy the Chicken Whopper over the Beef Whopper.
$5.95 Cheeseburger Kids Meal = $8.95 Small Cheeseburger Meal. Just ask for no toy and box (or give to someone if you prefer?)(a true OzBargainer would probably sell it on eBay or something…)

PRO TIP: The staff may scrunch up their face and say 'so you want to order a 'Whopper' but with "blah blah blah"?. OR, 'So you want a Chicken Royale burger but with blah blah blah?' Just staunchly (but calm and politely as possible) look them in the eye and say "NO, I would like (Go to Step 1 and repeat, so for a whopper you would say "I would like 1x5"Bun, 1x5"Beef Patty, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, etc etc etc). They may also say, 'We cant do that, blah blah blah, OR, I gotta go ask the manager (I have never had a problem with the managers TBH, its usually the staff who give grievance, but keep persevering!). They will even lie and say its not possible sometimes, but IFKYK and they will usually give up arguing. (They act as if they work at the bank and the money is all theirs, with you being the bank robber, its sad…)

PRO TIP 2: Get a copy of the receipt, and if you have dramas in the future or they try acting dumb, just give them the old reciept and say "I would like to order THAT thanks".
I have kept receipts but no phone to upload a picture of the orders, so maybe someone else can upload theirs below?

Enjoy. (Drops Mic)

Honestly mate, its bad out here. I ran into a well mature guy (probably 80's), well dressed and extremely humble. He came up to me the other day and asked for some spare change. I could see the sincerely in his eyes and he wasnt the normal/typical 'clientele' so to speak, that hang in the area begging. I had given away my change but offered to buy him a feed (all I had was a $50 note). I took him to the Indian Restaurant and bought him a feed and he was so appreciative. I asked him about his situation (its really easy for people to open up/relate when you are also 'in the struggle') and he just explained that it's all become too much (the cost of living), how his gas bill rolled in and he doesn't know what to do, how little crumbs he gets from the government, being alone etc etc. It was so heartbreaking but he was so thankful just for the feed because that was less he had to spent that he could put towards his bills. I left him some change and told him to NEVER be ashamed of asking for assistance and wished him well.

On the other hand, you have the people that DON'T want to help themselves, always drunk and violent, leave needles in the streets and public restrooms and playgrounds for everyone to get stabbed. I wake up with the indigenous mob from Alice Springs with their hands in my pockets, pick-pocketing me and when I wake up they saying 'give us money' and 'we from Alice Springs, we Arunta mob!', saying it with like a Spanish tongue roll. Lucky I already know a bit about their traditions and culture so I acknowledge these guys are REAL tribal, usually down here for the wrong reasons or community issues, not of their own fault, but from a failed system and colonization! Even the indigenous mob down here have problems with the mob from Alice, so it must be pretty hectik up there. Haven't had the chance to go there yet but I will soon I hope, but for now, I watch 'Spanians' video on Alice Spings, and witness how the mob are when they travel down here and it seems like a very accurate example without and bias or 'only showing 1 side' etc…

Its rough out here, but I'm still alive. There are many good, kind and generous people too, but its few and far between. Its all getting out of control and the government don't do crap all, its like they want us all to kill ourselves and wipe out those deemed 'useless eaters'. I can't seeing it getting better over the next couple years, its only gonna get worse and worse IMHO….

    People actually eat this stuff?

As a long time OzBargainer, I never thought there'd be a line I wouldn't cross for a bargain.
But this post has found it!

  • Why not just make a couple of accounts and try your luck at shake and win for either a $4 whopper or $6 2x junior whoppers?

    • +1

      No phone fortunately.

  • -3

hungry jacks is already at a pretty reasonable price, compared to Macca's. Don't do this to them lmao. I get OP but like bruh. stop.

    • 'Compared with McDonald's". Both have disgusting for the quality of food compared to places like Grilld and Betty's. I even go to this convenience store, who freshly cooks a roadhouse style chicken schnitzel burger, with a side of hot chips and a 375ml can of drink (not 1c post mix, each to their own though) for $12.95, throw in $2 and you get a gravy. The quality is easily double that of both McDonald's and HJ's and made with real/fresh ingredients, not Soylent Green… This hack is what the burgers themselves SHOULD cost IMveryHO…

I do the same at McDonald's anyways. I highly recommend the hamburger on the loose change, made in a mini tortilla wrap instead of a burger bun, and adding cheese if you will. Ask for a sachet or 2 of ketchup to add aswell. Will have to assemble yourself unless they are kind on the day…

bro I'm not gonna even read this but I just saw paragraphs of your replies on every comment here. touch grass man get a life

  • +2

Wrote a diatribe criticising OP but then thought I'd better delete it and ask this genuinely:
OP, do you have a psychiatric condition?

    • +4

If I told you what I was going through it would sound absolutely delusional, unless you yourself experienced it for yourself. I will say this though, that I have (on my own accord) been assessed by some of the most qualified doctors and Psychiatrists in this country and am told I am definitely NOT schizophrenic. I have a formal diagnosis of C-PTSD(Shell Shock they used to call it) related to ritualistic satanic abuse and childhood trauma if that helps answer your question, and yes, I have been and still am in a war.

I come from a family connected with OLMG's, Scientology and Mafia. I do not speak with them anymore and moved away around a decade ago. See most people get through life without upsetting the wrong people and are oblivious to what really goes on and who REALLY runs the world. I don't want to encourage you here, but go step on the wrong toes and see how quick things change and who runs things.

On the other hand, if you wanna talk about biblical faith, YAHUAH or Messiah YAHUSHA, then please, send me a message anytime! I have studied the bible extensively this last decade, and know ALOT more truth than the circe's (church) would ever teach you.

I posted a YT link above, and if you have a spare hour to hear from the guy that worked/developed AND was recently killed for revealing this technology to us, then I will re-share the link. I have personally witnessed this technology being used by the people that are now targeting me (before I knew what it was and before it started to happen me and thousands/millions of others around the world).

Or just throw me in the 'too hard basket' and put it down to 'this guy is mentally ill/cooked'.

Thanks for your message though, I would have preferred to read the original message though, some of these responses are hilarious, all over burgers, but thats how other people are looking at it too haha! :)

      • You have a great sense of humour and I wish you luck and success.

Hope your living situation improves OP.

You should look at setting up a Gofundme. Surely there’ll be people who’ll donate to it.

    • +2

I thought about it until I looked right into it and seen if it was viable.

I'm at the point of maybe cashing out my superannuation to help put towards a van to convert to a camper. I am eligible, but when I did the application they wanted to tax 22% which I could not justify (It came to around 5k after fees). It's making $500 a year sitting there so I felt I'm just better leaving it there because its just crumbs to be honest. Every van I have looked at is at least 10k. I have saved $2500 to put towards either a house or LWB van, but I don't see either feasible at this stage, nor GoFundMe.

      • I volunteer in the disability sector so I see people in care, and I get that you can't rent anything but a room in a share house while on welfare.
I'm genuinely intrigued to hear what people in your circumstances did with the doubling of welfare payments during COVID? I heard about a few people buying 2nd hand cars and tvs. Were you homeless during COVID or only since then?

  • Honestly, HJ jas priced themselves too high esp for families.
I can feed 2 adults and 2 teenagers cheaply at KFC 9 pc for $10. X2 if we are super hungry.

With HJ no one wants the jr or cheese burgers in the family burger meal and it's $40 just for 4 whoppers.

A for effort, well played OP

  • +1

    Thanks OP

  • +3

+1 because your script included “please”.

Manners never go out of style.

  • +1

Full price at HJ or Maccas is rediculous these days, can get something half healthy for that price. But at least HJ have good deals on the app, Maccas have become very stingy.

  • +1

Definitely get yourself a phone. You should be able to get a freebie somewhere (ask on Gumtree or Marketplace) and get a $10 a month prepaid plan. Being unemployed or homeless without a phone would be too rough.

  • +2

Hey OP, I know what it's like to be homeless.

I was at the point where I attempted suicide twice. I nearly lost my car(which was my house). Nolw I drive an EV.

    Life can get better.

Thank you for your post, and all the best.

    • Thanks for your encouraging words! I did have a car until I got harassed and accosted by the police on numerous occasions. They eventually took the number plates off and had it towed away. I never found it again. I was sleeping in it for around a year until that happened. I have got some crazy footage of my interactions with the authorities including being falsely arrested, dogpiled by 10 officers in the main police station in Sydney and assaulted. They almost broke both my arms, and the officer who smashed me with the batton ended up killing himself on valentines day 1 month later.

It's great to hear your still here and found light at the end of the tunnel! It's important to say here that I will never attempt to harm myself or commit suicide, but the program I was unwillingly enrolled into, this is one of its main goals. If I did not spend half a decade researching into this I probably would be dead already as it is designed to mimic mental illness, and they have already created fraudulent diagnosies for people who speak out or are affected by this Satanic tech. I often wonder how many others have actually commited suicide from not being equipped with the knowledge they need to either understand all this, or how it even works.

I always try to remain positive and I take solace that the Messiah Yahusha went through all this himself (Luke 20:20)(people constantly following Him, spies, reporting back to the goernment/authorities of the day). Nothing new under the Sun!

      Blessings to you friend! :)

  • +2

I remember in 2000 prior to the gst.

    For $10.
    2 x whoppers
    2 x cheeseburgers
    4 x small fries
    4 x small cokes

Plus free diy refills on soft drink.

    • +1

YES! The old skool vouchers! Used to have to tear them off back then ROFL.

My sister used to work at Hungry Jack's when I was young when they made the burgers and left them in the heater thing and would mark a time to throw them out! My mum used to go through drive through and say something only she would know, and then at the next window she would load us up with a bag full of burgers.

Those were the 'good ol' days!' :(

  • +1

    Its not just hjs profiteering.

Its the big 4 banks, petrol stations, colesworth/bunnings, streaming companies, and Apple.

    • +3

You are right. It is really peculiar though that pretty much every burger on the menu is almost spot on $3 marked up. It's like they decided to shove a $3 loading on everything for shits-and-giggles…

Maybe this post will create awareness for others to start realizing all their schemes/wiles, and maybe they will start buying local, supporting local small businesses and markets, cooking their own food etc etc. I would if I could, but I cant right now, so I just hope this post saves someone some money like it did for me. I just wanted to contribute as I use OzB a lot and just wanted to pay it forward.

I know its not the best bargain, but to someone else it might just be the few extra dollars they need to get through this very difficult season. Alot of people struggling and these companies could be doing ALOT more to relieve that struggle.

  • +1

If you hang out near the loading zones and wait for the supply truck you can rob it of all of these itemised ingredients too and then the burger is completely free just a bit on the raw and frozen side

But seriously, would never wish being homeless on anyone, hope it works out for you

  • No phone to show proof? lol everyone has a phone.

  • So OP, I'm genuinely curious. If you have no phone and are posting this deal and all your responses from an internet cafe, that means you spent about 5 hours at this intetnet cafe from around 6.30pm to around 11.30 pm last night. Internet cafes charge at least $5 per hour, so did you spend $25 on internet? Seems a bit strange for someone who is struggling for money?

    • He said

"the library and net cafe computers"

      Library computers are free.

      • +2

        Library open at 11.30 pm?

Hi OP, I feel very sorry for what you’ve been through after reading your comments, and I hope you can get through this difficult time soon. Despite your own hardships, you still take the time to actively share on Ozbaigain, which is truly admirable. If it were me, I might beg on the street, maybe that way I could earn a bit more and make life a little better.

    • +1

Unfortunately, this is where my shame limit ends. I have done so in the past though, especially when I was in Brisbane, but to be honest, it was more effective just collecting the 10c cans for refunds, and IMHO, less shameful. Usually you can find a couple of businesses/restaurants that will give you exclusive access to their rubbish bins out the back, where you limit your exposure to the public, and although you are going through a bin (which is extremely dangerous and messy), you are limited in being noticed by people of the public.

Alot of people are very judgemental and remember faces, and are more prone to be like "oh there's that guy going through the rubbish bins" or "that's that serial pest who always begs out front of blahblah station' or whatever. I hope one day I may reenter reemployment and just see all this as a hampering to that.

Of course you get the 'professional' beggers who earn up to $400 a day for their meth habit though, even after they have consumed that they are straight back to begging that very afternoon for more. These people ruin it for others like myself. I do get the occasional good samaritan that wakes me up with breakfast, and some kind souls even slip me a twenty or fifty and tell me to go back to sleep! It happens maybe once a month but is a really big blessing, and the last time a woman did for me, without knowing, she enabled me to bless 3 others with food also thereby helping 4 people total. There are some really good people out there for sure in saying all this! :)

      thanks for your comment :)

Has anyone actually tried this? I'd love to see a successful receipt.

    • +1

      Uploaded for you.

      • +1

        Absolute bloody legend!

  • +2

I did something similar about 6 years ago. Went to maccas and order a $1 hamburger and add cheese for 60 cents.
On my 2nd attempt, the employee starts telling me that's cheating their system and they won't allow this.
3rd attempt I did a specific order " $1 hamburger, a $1 frozen drink and uhhhh a piece of cheese on its own" ;)

    • +1

Yeah I used to do the same until I stopped eating Macca's. I still go in for the occasional $2 apple pie though!

HJ's on the other hand will put it all together for you no questions asked! <3

    • +2

i've done similar at maccas years ago for double fillet o fish.

order a $2 double cheeseburger, minus the beef patties, minus the pickles, minus the tomato sauce, minus the buns, add steamed buns, add 2 fish fillets, add tartare sauce. You basically leave the cheese.

Worked out cheaper than a single fillet o fish back then.

  • Thanks for sharing. Might not be worth the time/hassle, but I appreciate the entertainment and for sharing it here!

Also reminds me, does anyone remember the KFC snack is the face hack? There was a mobile game that you could override the database file and issue yourself unlimited coupons. That was something incredible. Was possible to walk in and get $30+ worth of food for free. Always left with a stunned look on the staff's face when the register rang up $0.

  • +4

Found a scanner @ the library, so I have uploaded a couple receipts for those with too much shame to attempt this without :)

Receipt 1: https://ibb.co/8nZb3MJw (Whopper with Natural Cheese - $6.40) (Usually $10.10 or $9.30 without cheese)
    Receipt 2: https://ibb.co/jPFnbTqN (Jacks Fried Chicken Whopper - $7.45)
    Receipt 3: https://ibb.co/r2Lsqx9P (Spicy JFK Pickleburger - $9.35)

Also, whilst instore today I confirmed that:

Toppings such as lettuce, tomato and onion etc = $0.25c at the self-service / $0.50 at the counter.
Sauces such as ketchup, mayo, spicy sauce = $0.15c at the self-service / $0.30 at the counter.
    A whopper by itself was = $9.30.
    A whopper W/ Cheese was = $10.10.

This brings the saving down by ordering as components to:

    Whopper = $3.50 saving.
    Whopper w/ Cheese = $3.80 saving.

For Whopper Junior and Cheeseburger size items, use the code-word "4 inch bun" and "4 inch meat patty" respectively. For a JFC style burger bun, use the code-word "Brioche Bun".

    Good Luck!
