Viofo A329s Hybrid Parking Mode: What's The Point without The HK6 Kit?

Looking to hear from others eyeing the VIOFO A329S dashcam (or maybe already got it installed).

The new “Hybrid Parking Mode” is marketed as a big selling point, whereby dashcam goes into a low-power sleep and only wakes on impact. Great in theory, especially for EV owners like me (Ioniq 5 here), where preserving the 12V battery is a real concern.

But here’s the catch:
The HK6 hardwire kit is required to actually enable Hybrid Parking Mode… and guess what? It’s nowhere to be found in Australia. Every installer I’ve spoken to in Sydney is still using either the HK3 or HK4, both of which only support basic parking modes (motion detection, time-lapse, voltage cut-off, etc.). They don’t enable the low-power sleep/wake mode.

So now I’m wondering, what’s the point of highlighting Hybrid Parking Mode in the A329S if the required kit isn’t even available locally?

Have I misunderstood something? Has anyone sourced the HK6 another way or got Hybrid mode working properly?

Keen to hear if others are in the same boat or found workarounds.

Sometime in July for the release date, apparently

  • Why not just use low bit-rate continuous recording like everyone else?

    • beat the purpose of buying A329S

  • I cringe at the fact that an EV with 50+kwh battery could fail to start if the 12V battery is drained
I think most EVs have this issue not just OP

  • Spoken to viofo and confirmed mid july to beginning of august release.
I was tossing between a229pro and a329s and a329s was the better overall but come to realise that the hk6 is needed and not available. So not sure what to do now.

  • I've been told that the 70mai 4G UP04 hardwire kit can be used with the A329S including the Hybrid Parking mode. Does this make sense to anyone?
