Eskimo eSIMs finally work in Singapore and currently doing 50% off Singapore eSIMs for a limited time.
Ps if you already have the global one you just need to do an ID verification with your passport and you can use it 👌🏽

Referee receives 500MB at sign up and referrer receives 500MB after the referee purchases a data plan.
Depending on your requirements, I highly recommend Eight.

S$8, 30 days, 288 GB.
Local network, so no roaming/etc.
If you're going to go down the path of suggesting local Singapore carriers, there are probably other alternatives that are just as good and possibly even better/cheaper/better network, such as CMLink, M1 Maxx, SIMBA, Vivifi, Redone, Giga, Gomo, Zero1, MyRepublic, Changi Mobile, Zym
From what I know of the above options, SIMBA offers ridiculous value especially for roaming in addition to local usage, while CMLink/zym offer something similarly cheap which is probably sufficient. From memory, zero1 also has a cheap plan
But, most importantly, would the average ozbargainer be eligible? There are certain restrictions on non-residents getting a local service.
And even then, would it be worth it for a tourist to get one of these local carriers over getting a tourist SIM from the airport? To be honest, I don't think so.
i used eight S$8 288gb recently for a holiday… was great, also included data for a trip to malaysia too… the data sim is for tourists
qr code emailed to me, had it set up before getting on the flight, simple
for S$8 (AUD$9.50) absolute no brainer
Eight have a travel eSIM that works for non-residents, can be setup before arriving in the country, and does ID validation in their app. Most of the rest you've listed do not.
SIMBA's cheapest plan is S$10, which is more than S$8 last I looked… (Plus I dont think they are available for Tourist, but I could be wrong there).
(And to be clear, when I say "no roaming" I mean that you're on a local Singapore network and not roaming. They DO support roaming into other countries - for free, with fairly reasonable data limits!)
Great reply - I stand corrected. I wasn't aware of this process for Eight's travel eSIM which does indeed make it great
I am aware that the big carriers (M1/Starhub/Singtel - at least one of them) has some kind of travel eSIM too, but it requires you to validate yourself with your passport in-person at the airport, which based on what you described of the process for eight below, makes eight in fact even better. That is because you're saying the verification can be done in-app, and you just need to set foot in Singapore to start using it? Awesome - definitely beats having to verify yourself in-person at the airport!
I would agree then. Eight is indeed a great option especially if you need a decent amount of data!!
@illumination: The big carriers do in-app verification too, I have done it with Starhub and Singtel.
@ballistykx: Ohh? Hm I wonder if that's new..! Last I recall (I think over a year ago) it required you to present yourself in person and it would be annoying if there was a queue. It's also just less seamless
Good to know they've all changed though but $8 in still cheaper :D
@illumination: I don't remember when it started but it requires you to photograph your passport and do a face scan. Definitely from last year sometime.
@illumination: Singtel also allows you to do the verification in their app. Not sure about the other big two.
would the average ozbargainer be eligible?
what is the eligibility criteria to get S$8 288GB?
You need to go through Passport verification in their app (required for all Singapore SIMs), and whilst you can signup before arriving, the eSIM won't actually start working until you're in Singapore (so you can't use it for roaming before being in SG first). That's it!
Depending on your requirements, I highly recommend Eight.
Whilst I can store eight, I can only have one active at a time…
Starhub used to be great value with their Happy Prepaid SIM that can be used in many countries until they started reducing their data pack options.
Does anyone know of a better alternative these days?
Yea they were fantastic! But their options didn't really get worse, it's just they didn't keep up with the competition who all ended up offering much more data and much better value. And there was also the rise of eSIMs which made products like Starhub's Happy Prepaid somewhat less appealing just by virtue of a very viable and convenient alternative.
