BlackBelt Protein Whey Protein Concentrate from $30.15/kg (10kg for $301.50, 1kg $36) + $9.99 Delivery @ BlackBelt Protein

70

While waiting for the next Amino Z deal, I've been looking to stock up on some whey protein concentrate (WPC) and found this deal at BlackBelt Protein. Their WPC is currently 10% off the standard price, which makes it decent value.

Here's the rundown of the deals:

  • Whey Protein Concentrate from $30.15 per kg if you buy the 10kg bag, which is a good price for WPC.
  • They've also got their "Heisenberg" Pre-Workout at 50% off, dropping it to just $22.50. I picked this up too, and it's good value.

A quick note on shipping: It's a flat rate of $9.99. If it's your first time ordering from BlackBelt Protein, you can sign up on their site for a free shipping code, which is what I did.

Here’s how their WPC pricing breaks down by weight:

Quantity (KG) Price (AUD) Price per KG (AUD)
1 $36.00 $36.00
2 $64.80 $32.40
3 $93.15 $31.05
4 $122.40 $30.60
5 $152.10 $30.42
10 $301.50 $30.15

How does this compare to other major protein retailers?

I did a quick comparison of WPC (or equivalent) prices from other popular supplement sites. These are generally the lowest per-kg prices I could find, usually for larger bulk buys. Keep in mind that prices on these sites can change frequently with sales, and don't always include shipping unless noted.

Retailer Product (WPC) Lowest Price per KG (AUD) Notes
BlackBelt Protein Whey Protein Concentrate $30.15 (10kg purchase). Currently 10% off.
Amino Z Amino Z Simply Whey (Unflavoured) ~$49.94 (1kg Club Price). Their "Simply Whey" (unflavoured) for 1kg is typically around $49.94. Their main WPC can be more expensive. Deals vary significantly.
Bulk Nutrients Whey Protein Concentrate $36.75 (20kg purchase). 1kg is $42.00. Bulk Nutrients often has free shipping over a certain order value.
Myprotein Impact Whey Protein ~$30 - $80+ Prices fluctuate heavily with sales and discount codes. You might find it around $30/kg during major sales, but standard prices can be much higher (e.g., a 5kg vanilla is currently $259.99 = $52/kg before discounts, with 1kg around $83.80).

A couple of things to note about BlackBelt Protein WPC:

  • It's advertised as Australian grass-fed and blended here, which is a good point for some.
  • From reviews, the flavours can be a bit hit or miss – some find them bland or a bit artificial. So, if you're someone who just wants the macros and isn't too concerned about gourmet taste, this could be a really solid value buy.

Hopefully, this helps anyone else looking to get some good value protein!

I usually use WPC just to supplement my normal diet (like eggs / pasta / etc). The extra couple of grams of fat and carbs in WPC doesn't really bother me considering the price difference!

      • -2

i was only allowed WPI when cutting. 1 scoop everyday with the oats to make it more creamy.

        • Shaken or blended?

    • -2

Boiled eggs are gross (and dubious healthwise), I'd rather supplement with WPC than eat eggs.

Dubious sound like my dad, he posted this on the family chat today as well ffs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck0BmauJjvA. Sponsored study 😂 then he rebuttles with dairy industry is forcing us to eat lots of eggs sheesh. No worried dad ill fry tofu in the vegetable oil that has zero vegetables in it and is what actually causes health issues

    • +3

garbage? guarantee you are a DYEL. boiled eggs for protein? LMAO how many eggs would I need to hit 175g protein before I start having cholestrol problems?

  • +1

Ive ordered their caesin before (which was just isolate and concentrate for some reason), but it tastes really bad, to the point it ruins most smoothies ive put it in. I ordered their vanilla for reference but the nutella one also tastes bad

    • Yeah I've seen a lot of reviews that say the flavour is bad. As someone who once bought 5kg of birthday cake flavour protein powder and managed to finish it, I'm hopeful I'll be able to grit my teeth and stomach this!

      • +8

you are full of pre conceived shit. the idea that WPC is 'garbage' and WPI only allowed during cuts. you are a joke

I've been buying bulk unflavoured WPC from here,

    https://sport-supplements.com.au/products/whey-protein-conce…

    5KG for $143, inc free shipping. ($28.60 a kg)

I mix a scoop with 200ml milk, and 2 heaped tablespoons of milo. Mix with a handheld milk frother for 2-3mins to get 95% of the lumps taken care of.

    Tastes great. :)

    • +2

Wish I knew about this before I ordered from this deal!
I guess $28.60 isn't that much cheaper than $30.15, but this is one I'll keep in mind for my next restock, thanks for sharing!

    • So unflavoured and lumps like a mf is what I’m getting here. I’d rather pay the extra $2 to not have to spend 2 minutes hoping it mixes well.

    • +1

      Fantastic!

Consider posting this as a deal as well 👍

    • To be fair, WPC isn't everyone's cup of tea (compared to WPI), and unflavoured isn't either.

The fact (my post's deal, not OP's) doesn't have any extra stuff in it (emulsifiers/flavours/artificial sweeteners/etc), can be seen as a positive or negative. Some people don't want all the extra stuff.

Re:nomoneynoproblem's comment, A lack of emulsifier means I have to spend longer to mix it properly. But even when I get a small lump or 2 each drink, I usually just have to munch it a little and keep drinking. Kinda feels like a little bit of dough. Actually still tastes fine.

The lack of flavours and artificial sweeteners means I can add my own flavour. I use milo, but have also used cocoa, and that tastes pretty good too.

I primarily use it for after long (2-9h) or hard cycle rides (2-3h with either intervals/sprints/se efforts), so it's use is to just kickstart muscle recovery asap, so that's why I have it with milk and milo, as the carbs (sugar) is a good thing for glycogen synthesis. I usually have it with some biscuits as well.

btw, I've never tried it with just water.

It's certainly not everyone's cup of tea. But it does the job for a cheap price.

      • How does unflavoured taste like btw? Light milky taste I presume?

        • +3

Did a quick experiment for you with a little bit, in some water. It does taste a little bit like a very light milky taste. Not tasty-tasty, but also not unpleasant.

Then had a little bit, in just plain milk, and it kinda makes it taste like a tiny bit thicker milk.

Definitely better with milk than water.

Anyway, as indicated previously, I usually have it with milo and milk, and it tastes pretty much like a slightly thicker milo, even after using the milk frother, which adds a ton of bubbles into the mix.

I mix it for around 3 mins these days, with a few pauses every 30 seconds to let the clumps fall to the bottom. I then mix it by hand with the wand, to accumulate the clumps in the frother wand end, and turn it back on. After about 5-6 of these on/off clump check/mixes, it will get to the point where I can't feel clumps at the bottom of the cup when it's turned off, which means I've got 95%+ of the clumps.

When I drink it, I usually still have 1-3 small clumps of about a pea size each that I just munch on, which with the milo and milk mix in my mouth, the clumps only taste like a chewy milk dough mixed with milo.

Given my choice of WPC doesn't have an emulsifier, I'd hesitate recommending it to anyone without a milk frother or high quality blender, as I'd hazard a guess that with a shaker, it would take a good 5+ mins of shaking to mix it decently well. Using a fork is also do-able, but not recommended, as it's also a 5+ min chore.

Their creatine is also 50% ($32.5 for 1kg).
And free shipping with code FEBFS25

  • +1

80% is a bit low compared IWP…to myprotein or Aminoz but Aminoz price went up heaps..

    • If you're strictly counting each gram of fat and carbs you consume then WPC probably isn't right for you anyway. I can't justify the extra cost for WPI, but if there's a good deal I'll usually get WPI instead of WPC.

BCAAs $21 for 250g, not bad also.

    • -6

Don't really need BCAAs unless your a vegan. Then take it along with a ton of supplements as you're not getting it from meat and dairy a dn seafood. Creatine is good though as you'd need to eat 2-3kgs of meat a day to get the same as 9-11grams scoop a day which is what most studies are based of

something in their branding/logo tells me that some copyright infringement is coming their way big time…

I've ordered from them before, tastes bad compared to aminoz, haven't seen them do any further sale than 10% off, bags are tiny so easy to get messy. How about Musashi 2kg or 40/50% off whey one sale at CW

    • +1

Yeah half price 2kg Musashi is slightly better value, I stocked up on them during the last sale!
The only issue with the last sale was you had to go into the store in person to get the price match, which meant I was limited to buying whatever stock they had and how much I could carry (the answer for both was 3 tubs). I'm almost at the end of my last tub and wanted to get a bulk replacement and this seemed to be the best deal available right now!

    • I've ordered BB's flavoured WPC too - and whilst i wouldn't use the word 'bad', BN and Amino Z are much better tasting when comparing similar flavours.

  • Anyone else here use a shakesphere? We found they are very convenent. Doesn't always mix perfect and requires excessive vigorous shaking, but easy to clean.

"If it's your first time ordering from BlackBelt Protein, you can sign up on their site for a free shipping code, which is what I did."

Any insights on how to get the free shipping code, I didnt seem to get presented with anything when checking out? I tried via the affiliate code link but appears to be borked: https://www.blackbeltprotein.com.au/?page_id=78557

Long-time purchaser of INC WPC at Chemist Warehouse/ePharmacy, mostly when it's on sale.
Unfortunately, they've jacked up their base price to $105/2kg now (https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/98677/inc-100-dynami…). Can't see them getting back to $54 that they had on sale only back in May (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/906612)

Bit the bullet for 5kg of BlackBelt - it's probably the best value going around, though texture not as good as INC.

Feedback on this, now that I've cracked open both my bags. The flavour isn't great, I've got Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter. The peanut butter especially is quite strange tasting, it reminds me of vodka mudshakes (which is not what I'm going for and bringing back some fairly average memories).

I'll power through though, and hopefully have something decent from Amino Z coming up

    • Can second your thoughts about Vanilla Peanut Butter - just tastes weird.
