I have a love/hate relationship with these. The sauce that comes with it tastes horrible. Some of the worst stuff I've ever eaten. But the noodles are some of the best noodles I've eaten. Great texture and chew. Worth buying them for the noodles alone.
I normally use 1/3 of the spice due to its strong taste
Yeah the sauce is not good
Try at a Korean restaurant first and then try this
Which ones are better?
Of course the restaurant version is better
this instant one was just trying to copy it
Samyang has one like that too. It uses paste, not powder. I heard it tastes way better when you deep-fry the paste. Haven’t tried it myself, though.
Korean? But it’s Chinese sweet black bean sauce
They aren't the same. You can try both Korean and Chinese, and see the difference
This Korean dish is a hybrid from a very very long time ago. The history is:
Jajangmyeon or jjajangmyeon is a Korean Chinese noodle dish topped with a thick sauce made of chunjang, diced pork, and vegetables. It is a variation of the Chinese dish zhajiangmian; it developed in the late 19th century, during the Joseon period, when Chinese migrant workers from Shandong arrived in Incheon
This noodle pack is a take on that popular Korean/Chinese dish
@Suricate: haha :) i watch enough Korean Drama's.. not sure i'm going into K Documentaries lol
Thanks OP.. got myself a pack of these. they are NOT as bad as people say.. just not as good as the other brand

I feel like this dish has ventured too far away from its original Chinese sweet black bean noodle to be considered the same dish. I have tried both and the taste is not even remotely similar. Korean one is warm, rich and sweet, whilst the Chinese one was cold and salty. I think it's kind of same deal as Japanese ramen, where it was originated in China, but now became a completely different dish.
This is one of the stable instant noodle for Koreans and it's extremely popular, ranking 2nd most sold noodle in Korea. However, I have got to say that this is very much of an acquired taste, particularly for non-Koreans who have not tasted the Jja-jang men, black bean noodle before.
Moreover, this instant noodle is quite difficult to cook right as well, despite being an 'instant' noodle. It's quite tricky to get the right amount of water drained so the sauce can dissolve and not clump together and at the same time not taste bland from having too much water.
This + Neoguri + A5 Wagyu + Fried Egg = Tasty dish.
