Sofirn LT1S LED Lamp USB Port Corrosion after 8 Months

so I bought this lamp to use outdoors, because it's IPX8 submergible I thought it can handle being left in moisture outside.

apparently cant. 8 months now, and second time after lifting the rubber cover there is corrosion (and I always made sure to push it down tight), the green kind. first time I cleaned it off and still charged. now the port doesn't work anymore.

the deals for this are too old to comment on but thought I should share what happened (and for some reason I can't add to my review). if you have one I recommend not leaving it hanging outdoors/on a balcony.
most likely caused by humidity every morning, because it's not in a place that can get direct rain.

I remember somewhere reading on ozb that USB-C ports are designed to be waterproof to begin with. apparently not.

  Did you buy on Amazon or Ali? I’ve generally had success reaching out to merchant even months after purchase. Otherwise I’ll leave a review accordingly detailing the issue.

    Aliexpress. I got it for cheap on sale.

    I don't think I could ever edit reviews but usually in the past I could "add" additional comments to the reviews I wrote. my review is still showing in the feedback area, but I can't add any comments now? seems like they changed that or maybe there is a time period.

    yeah I mean I can still unscrew it and charge the battery I have a charger for my rechargeable panasonic eneloop pro's which can also charge lithium.
    so the product isn't "dead" i can keep using it.

    just thought I'd share my experience because imo IPX8 exactly it is not.

    I'm not looking for a replacement or a discount on another one either. I can keep using this one. just not the quality I expected. 😭

  How long are you leaving it outside? Overnight x 5 nights a week?

    yeah only bring it in to charge.

    happy with it other than the poor IPX8 rating.

    on low battery lasts 50+ hours.

      I don't know if the IPX8 would technically cover being left in a high moisture environment for that long would it?

        I just thought if it can be submerged 1m it's sealed.
