How Are You Comparing Cashback Platforms?

I'm wondering how you are comparing cashback sites to find the best overall price on a product you are buying, once the cashback is taken into consideration? Are there any tricks of the trade, besides going to each Cashback platform separately (Cashrewards, Shopback etc) and reading through the fineprint?

i asked my quant and he says the maths does check out

    • Lol…. true that. Sorry, I meant how do you avoid having to go to each of the Cashback sites separately, as it's a bit of a pain in the rear end…

      • No other way mate. Each of them run different promotions at all times. There is only really 3 main ones to check anyway so not too much of a hassle.

    OzBargain Chrome/Firefox extension.

    • Browsing retailer's website.
    • Click on the OzBargain icon on your browser
    • Click on Cashback tab

We are currently tracking only Cashrewards, Shopback and TopCashback, but update multiple times a day.

    • Damn this is cool too, didn't even know it existed. Do you still need to confirm that the cashback listed in the browser plugin is applicable to the category you are looking at (for example, if you are looking at a TV on Amazon, that the cashback is 1% for Electronics, even though it might be a max of 10% for other products such as Kindles)?

      • Nah. We aren't reading the content of the web page you are reading, but just grabbing the URL to check against our cashback database. For example on Amazon, it will list out all the different cashback percentages for different categories — you still need to be the one doing the actual matching.

        • Ok cool - got it. Thanks Scotty, much appreciated (both the plugin, and your fast answers). This browser plugin might be my new best friend.

I tend to go to the ozbargain store page before I buy anything from anyone both to look for discount codes and to compare cashback.

For a big purchase I'll still quickly check the diff cashback providers

  • I just check TCB and CR manually as you still need to read the small print for each store.

Can't be bothered with SB as based on reading other comments it seems to have lots more problems.

    • Personally I've had more issues in the past with CR. TCB and SB have been fine.
