New low, ~$200 below MSRP. Guess these aren't selling too well. 9070 XT is still better for most people but if you want more performance or do ML, this is alright.

    not bad.

    • +6

not OMG amazing either….maybe itll go down further….maybe it wont

      • +5

if only it wasnt 16gb. but given recent nvidia pricing i have no hope of 5080 super being a good deal

      • +7

i'm probably with most tech ozbargainers, this should probably sit around the 1.5k mark.

mid-high like the 5070ti should probably be at 1k.

        • +1

I agree, but still a while to go, only just sub-$1400 atm

      • It might, but you'll be playing the usual game of, how long do you wait until it's out of stock.

      • +2

4080/4080 Super for $1400 was still better value. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080…

    Need 5080 with 24GB

    • +6

Called 5080 Super. On the way.

      • +3

And then you'll be waiting for them to hit $1600.

Those interested should make sure you understand the benefit of the extra 8GB, because the short answer is: if you're not planning on 4K gaming, don't bother. Even at 4K, probably still don't bother because between procedural generation via work graphs, and neural compression techniques, we're going to see VRAM requirements go down while image quality goes up.

Probably so much so that it gets you through to the end of the decade, at which point you're going to want a new GPU.

        • +2

Price-wise, if the super is low to mid 2s and at least matches 4090 performance (I know 5080 OG with OC can get close), then some part of me says that might be ok? Or I've just been nvidia-d re new $$ normals…

But will more likely sit at mid to high $2s… and 1600 would be an almost never - which reinforces your point

          • @gazer: It will do what an OC'd 5080 does, i.e. they'll clock it more appropriately out of the box with more VRAM. It's a 5080 with a meagre bonus.

Once all this VRAM saving tech is about, the regular 5080 is probably a 'budget' 8K60 card via DLSS high performance (note: not frame-gen). It's more for people running the heavier ML models.

    • +1

would retail at $2499 at least. need to close the gap as much as possible with 5090 at $4k.

      • +1

Cap. I don't know, I think Nvidia will be hurting more than people are anticipating - don't know if they can afford to price it that high.

        • They could, the market still there for high spender. Gamers could still stick around with 2080, 3080s or even 1080Ti.

        • +3

i dont think the most valuable company in the world is hurting cause gamers, who make up such a small % of their business model nowadays, don't want to pay an extra few hundred bucks.

          • @LINK91: Not what I'm saying.

NVIDIA does not want to lose market share - having 92% consumer market share is insane free marketing. This means A LOT to them.

            • +2

@Senate 69: This, not sure why people think Nvidia would run the gaming division into the ground just because it's not the major revenue generator. Apart from the benefits Senate mentioned, the billions it does bring in are still of value and hard to maintain that if you price yourself out. The 5090 can get away with doing that cos its a halo product

  • +3

Call me crazy but as much as this is a good deal for the card - is it really still a good deal overall? I think 9070 XT makes much more sense.

    • +3

The 5070ti of the same brand at $1375 is the way… 10-15% difference in Performance

    • +1

9070 xt is definitely better value when it just comes to gaming but nvidia has cuda which some programs for compute has good support

  • Haven't owned this brand. How do they fare?

    • -6

Haven't heard of the most valuable company in the world??

      • +3

theyre talking about Palit, not Nvidia

    • +2

Palit is good, does OEM for lots of the big brands out there.
The obvious issue is that their fan makes a 'grinding' noise. This is present on all their cards, including the most expensive 5090.
Just search 'palit fan noise' and hear it yourself.
It shouldn't be an issue unless for an open type case anyway.

Ive had this model since launch (assuming no changes since). Been pretty impressed overall, I have been able to get a good overclock on it.
Little bit louder then my MSI 3070 but not noticable. Tiny bit of coil wine when pushed hard.

Overall good for what it is, not as pretty as some but ive just put the mesh panel on my case so I cant see it anyway.

    • +1

Have had a Palit 4090 for a couple of years now. Has been perfect so far (touch wood) - barely any noise/whine etc.

    HODL for RX9090XT

      (it will never exist)

Purchased the Galax version of these in April for $2099. Upgraded from a 1660ti. Paired it with an AMD 9800X3D and 64GB RAM. Absolutely Loving it, I don't mind having payed the tax to get it a few months earlier.

Seriously, if you're current system is in need of an upgrade, don't hold off for 24GB+ VRAM or a huge price drop, you'll just be paying more and waiting longer for no good reason. The opportunity cost isn't worth it.

    • 4K 120hz ultra gaming runs perfectly. eg: Fortnite, Dune Awakening, Death Stranding 2, Baldur's Gate III, MS Flight Sim 2024
    • 4K 60hz video editing and rendering on Premier Pro is like butter
    • Blender runs fantastically with the NVIDIA drivers when I play around with 3D modelling
    • I can run comfyUI with Wan 2.1 and Stable Diffusion for Video Gen

    What more do you want?

    • I assume you mean Death Stranding 1 not 2.

      • That's right I had to buy 2 on the PS5. It looks so damn good that I forget.

  • From the same seller and factoring in standard membership and Ebay plus, the cheapest 5070 TI and 5070 are $1381/1348 and $879/859 respectively. The former is a Palit GamingPro and the latter a Palit Infinity model.

  • To be fair, MFG does have it's place. While i hate how nvidia uses it to mislead, if you are detail oriented, observant, it's by a country mile the best frame generation that exists. It retains detail in motion so much better, actually giving reason and purpose behind having a high hz monitor.
