edit: ok my bad guys. didn't click through enough the coupon (shows 16% off but) only applies 10% off for 1 item. (to get 16% off you need to buy 4 Fosi items!)
deal from amazon is still at least $10 cheaper than Fosi direct.
sign in to redeem extra 16% 10% off coupon. (can also stack with $10 off $80 NAB/Citibank deal)

seems to be $299 everywhere else and even $318 on Aliexpress before coupons.
I found a coupon for 15% off from Fosi direct, but that makes it $261 + tax? ($169.99 US down from $199.99) so this deal from amazon is cheaper.
it's $279 on amazon AU then apply 16% 10% coupon makes it $250 which is a more reasonable price than $300 imo.

released 3 months ago. this seems like a really good powerful HP/DAC amp even if you don't consider the ability to plug speakers from the back out and mic in the front.
it's pricey but everything is when it's a option for gamer marketed products, at least this has all metal build.

watch the review by GadgetryTech he even tests the power and it's very powerful and does what it claims, more than enough power for anyone.
some reviewer said bypass mode sounds best. you don't need to mess with bass and treble mode anyway that's for gamers that just want a quick huge increase in bass.

the main downside to this seems to be the learning curve because it does everything on the unit, without controlling it through software (some also said this is a plus because software can break with updates and even remove functions in the future). so just be prepared to spend a month memorizing and learning what all the buttons do and which to press.

  • my response to mskeggs just in case you can't see the comment because previous deal unpublished.

With balanced connections usually you can use an adapter, when you combine the signals again they stack to a normal signal.

I read this awhile ago so sorry I couldn't find it again and provide a link.

but the AI google response somewhat says exactly what I half remembered.

when using a 3.5mm to 4.4mm balanced adapter "plugging an unbalanced cable, into a balanced output via an adapter" there is potential to short something and cause permanent damage. ai says it can short the balanced signals to ground. damaging your equipment.

from what I remember, someone commented, that if you plug the adapter in a certain order, you can avoid this happening. but the risk is there (you might forget, or someone else might pick it up and use it) so a lot of people recommended not buying/using those adapters.

This looks like a really interesting device I never knew I needed.

    • it's a bit pricey to buy because you never knew you needed imo.

but handy powerful device for those who use game chat or WFH and want to be able to use the power for their thirsty headphones.

no software required and everything being controlled by buttons also a positive according to reviewers. don't need to rely on crappy software (Razer/Creative etc) and updates that break/remove functions.

    • You probably don't need it then.

Do your current headphones get loud enough when plugged into your source eg. PC?

      • Do your current headphones get loud enough when plugged into your source eg. PC?

most likely yes. tbh I hear 50mW~80mW is enough for most headphones before you reach hearing damage levels for average listening periods. 500mW is too much already. it's a very particular case if you need 1.2W of power (low % probability). but some cheaper headphones I hear like a comment below says HiFiman planars which aren't too expensive but can require heaps of power.

also apparently if you EQ your headphones, it lowers the peak volume so you need more power, but not that much more like 500mW still too much.

what I read is more important these days is low output impedance for IEM's. when plugging IEMs if the output impedance is too high you can get hiss.

Fosi rep claims K7 output impedance is close to 0ohm.
ASR thread user says "According to my measurements, the maximum undistorted power (THD+N<1%) of Fosi K7 under a 32Ω impedance 1000Hz sine wave is 551mW (single-ended) and 2257mW (balanced), with an output impedance of 0.45Ω (single-ended) and 0.34Ω (balanced).".

  • recently amazon pulling a dodgy move.

showing green max % discount with a coupon on product page. but that doesn't actually apply unless 4+ products are purchased, in this case none of which are cheap.

I didn't realise this until now. I've been looking at a few items now need to double check because the price I assumed in my head is wrong and the price is higher with coupon applied.

As i said in the last post with this item i've had this since it came out and absolutely love it! I use it wired on my ps5 pro plus my nintendo switch 2. And via bluetooth to my apple tv and it's be flawless since day one. And it's powering my hifiman edition xs headphones with the 3.5mm cable. Happy to answer any questions if i know the answers. :)

    • yeah I just realised I lost all the previous posts comments. oh well. I can see them but not sure if other users can.

not sure what mods wanted me to do. they unpublished it, so did they want me to edit and fix it? or repost? idk. I guess repost because some of the good deal votes might have been based on the $235 price.

      thanks again for feedback.

    • I have the same headphones and the same DAC, what configuration do you use on your DAC for the Hifman?

      • For what device? For the PS5 and switch 2 I use the USB 1 mode via the USB c input.
