Suggestion and Deal for a PC

Hi everyone,

My current PC is 10 years old. I want to have a new one as the old one CPU is too slow.

I plan to keep my old 750w PSU, hard drives and 980ti GPU. GPU will change later if I can't find good deal soon.

I just bought a 9800x3d today and need a cooler, motherboard and ram. any suggestions? I found a cheap x870 is similar price as an expensive one b650. How can I choose a motherboard?

And I also need atx tower is there is a good deal.

Thanks

Honestly, I would upgrade your psu as well. It’s ten years old (?) and will be put under a lot of stress once you replace the gpu… don’t want to risk it dying, and taking out you new components

because I haven't deside the gpu, I don't know how big psu I need. I may down clock the 980ti. i found 9800x3d and my 6700k is similar power. The 5090 is too expensive. I may buy a 5080. do you thing 1000w is enough?

1000w should be enough for pretty much any gpu - I think it’s listed as the min for a 5090

    au.pcpartpicker.com
Input your existing parts and it'll allow you to filter motherboard, ram etc by compatibility.

  • I did a quick check on amazon the b850 and x870 MB price is similar. is it mean x870 is better value than b850

    • You haven't specified any motherboards, you're just mentioning the chipset used. Give us specifics and we can recommend whether they're good or not - cheap ones vary wildly to expensive ones, not just in features but in quality of components, power delivery and cooling.

      • thanks jk82 so far I found 3 x870 price around $350 from Amazon GIGABYTE X870 Eagle WIFI7 and ASRock X870 Pro-A and GIGABYTE X870 Gaming WIFI6

        • the GIGABYTE Gaming is WIFI6 and ASRock one I can't find it except amazon. So I prefer the GIGABYTE X870 Eagle WIFI7. Also I found many B850 on amazon is from $220 to $400 and the none- m version cheapest one is $280 GIGABYTE B850 Gaming WIFI6 how is this compare with the above x870? worth the $70 difference?

        • Yeah I mean they're all good. I wouldn't go the last one as it only has wifi 6. But for $350 you're gonna get a good board.

There's no need to spend that much though, something around $200 - $250 would do just as good a job, but have a look at the features you want and see what's for you.

If you want, punch in all your parts into pcpartpicker and send through the list, I'd be happy to have a look and give other options for you to consider.

          • @jk82: for $200 - $250 price range do you suggest to buy a b650 atx?

  • anyone used this AIO Thermalright Frozen Notte 360 White ARGB V2 before? is it good?
