    24? But why

  • +6

How are these different to the plugs you see on AliExpress? I own the exact looking pair for $4 and they work great.

These are plastic and rubber, original brand seems like a massive scam..

    • I'm not sure about that model, but I have a cheaper Chinese pair from Amazon. The silicone tips keep falling off and getting stuck in my ear 🥲
The first time it happened was a bit scary, but I've gotten used to it now.
Meanwhile, my missus uses the Loop Quiet and hasn't had any issues like that.

Yeah, I agree. It's too pricey for plastic and rubber. Probably paying mostly for the marketing.

      • +7

Never had an issue myself, and you can purchase pairs off AliExpress that are integrated with the tips if that's an issue for you.

Personally these seem like snake oil and I'm amazed it's gone as far as it has. There is no technology involved in these, it's just a rubber ear tip shaped to make it easier to sleep. There's loads of these around.

      • Do you know any from Aliexpress that reduces sound for concerts, etc, but not completely block sound like this?

    • +3

Yup I have 2 pairs off amazon (aliexpress resale I'm pretty sure) - $15ish each pair and work perfectly.

No issues with tips coming off etc.

    • +3

This is such a rip off. These companies even pay people to write fake reviews on Amazon. I bought one, and when I saw they were offering $10 cashback for a positive review, I reported it to Amazon. But the product is still up for sale even now. I returned it and got a $2 one from AliExpress instead. It actually helps me sleep when there's snoring around. I ended up buying two more from AliEx just in case I lose them while sleeping, but the first pair is still going strong.

I'm going to downvote the post so others don't fall for this overpriced scam of a product. But if the Admin or anyone else thinks I'm wrong, feel free to revoke my vote.

      • +2

        100% agree. Complete scam.

      • Just to confirm…

What companies are you talking about when you say 'These companies…"?

What earplugs did you buy? You say you 'bought one', you didn't say you bought this one.

Up until I bought the FIKISFA ear plugs linked in a comment below, I have never seen anything like that before with my purchases. But in that box, there was a card saying leave a 5 star review and get a $10 Amazon gift voucher. Is that one the 'companies' you're talking about?

  • +8

Coincidentally, I went down a rabbit hole this morning for sleep issues and settled on these - www.amazon.com.au/FIKISFA-Ear-Plugs-Sleeping-Track-Orange/dp… $14.44

As far as I can tell, Loop is heavily about marketing. But I haven't tried them to test quality.

    First review:

"I already own three pairs of the original Loop earplugs, but those only reduce noise by up to 14 decibels. I was looking for something with stronger protection, but the prices of the Loop Quiet 2 and Dream models ($35 and $70) felt way too steep for what they offer. So I decided to try these instead, and honestly, it really highlights how overpriced Loop earplugs are. These are just as comfy, come with the same quality case and ear tips, include multiple sizes, have a higher noise reduction rating, and cost less than half the price (I got these on sale for $15). I tested them with different audio sources, and they block out noticeably more sound than my Loop Quiet 1s (which makes sense since that's only rated 14 dB). I’m just glad they work better than what I had before, and I didn’t have to spend much. Also good for side-sleeping!"

    • Was going to bite the bullet on the Loop but maybe I'll give these a crack first. 24db vs 35db and some change to spare, can't go wrong

    • Yup I have these ones - these are my favourites but I haven't tried Loops. Perfect for sleeping.

    • Are these good for concerts etc?

    • +1

Bought a pair to compare them against my Loops - cheap enough that I certainly won't lose anything giving them a go!

    • -1

2bh these look like knockoff loops. Even the case and packaging.

…but loops aren't very innovative to begin with, it's basically ear phones without the electronics… Definitely prone to AliExpress knockoffs, and other derivatives like the one you've provided.

Update: The $14.44 buds arrived and they are fantastic, I was worried they would just act as earphone type earbuds without the music. But they immediately make everything quiet. Very happy.

    • Seeing as how I got a 'write a 5 star review and get a $10 Amazon gift voucher' card in the box, I'd be somewhat sceptical of the 5 star reviews… :/

      However, mine arrived yesterday.

      Pros:
      - They didn't fall out during the night (I am a side sleeper some of the night), and I didn't have to reseat them
      - They cut down the road noise acceptably

      Cons:
      - Sleeping on my sides, I did end up with slightly sore ears

I also have Loop Quiet 2s bought before this deal. So comparing the two, and obviously this is what I think for my ears because one size definitely does not fit all, but…

These did a better job at staying in all night compared to the Loops. Albeit based on one night's wear. I seem to have to reseat the Loops (or one of them) occasionally through the night (they've never fallen out completely, just gotten loose). Although I do think I ended up with slightly sorer ears with these vs the Loops after sleeping on my side. I think the tab part on the FIKISFA, while soft-ish, is still stiffer overall than the loop of the Loops. So I'm guessing that's probably why. But perhaps the shape of the tab is also the reason they didn't get loose during the night because they fit my ear better?

I always have trouble getting a good seal with my right ear with ear plugs, it's obviously got a different sized canal to the left, but the default tips for these seemed to work for both. So I guess that's a win. And potentially that points to not using the right sized tip in that ear for the Loops, but it could also be due to the actual shape of the tips, as they do have slightly different profiles. Actually, maybe I should try the FIFISFA tips on the Loops, ha!

And I think these did actually cut down on the sound more than the Loops, which I guess is to be expected with 24dB vs 35dB reduction. Although 35dB sounds like one of those peak numbers that companies use where they picked the highest number even though the conditions it occurred under means it's crap.

Overall, they're not perfect, but will give them a few more wears to see what I prefer. I still think Loops are decent, much more comfortable and stayed in better than the Mack's foam earplugs I tried.

When this product was at its infancy a few years ago, I bought a set. They are gimmicks. Does not work. Don't waste your money. Certain foam ear plugs (not the cheapies) work many times better than this.

    • +3

Can confirm the cheapies do not work. Coles earplugs 4pk $6 do nothing.

      • +3

Yes, those springy soft sponge types are useless. But I always find the ones that are denser and slow to expand, they tend to fit well and seal the ear canals much slower and better. However, some people don't like to hear themselves breathing with this type of ear plugs. So I guess it is each to their own.

    • Depends on your use case.

They DO work for sleeping for ME, as they are comfortable.

Probably costs 10 cents to actually produce from China, but the $25 or $30 ripoff I invested in them has been WORTH IT.

I've been using it for at least a year now (yes I clean them) and use them every night basically.

  • +10

As someone who has bought them, please don’t buy them!

You can get same from Temu or Aliexpress for $5 literally, they’re basically white label products with heavy marketing spend.

  • -5

These things are total garbage. They don't work. Don't waste your money.

  • +3

My partner and I both use these for sleep and they work brilliantly, especially as she is a light sleeper and I have very sensitive hearing overall.

Previously we both used 3m foam and they were always falling out, hard to put in (especially as partner has small ear canals).

The case and several adjustable tips make it easy to find the righ size and not lose it on the go.

The only negative is that they do not seem to be as effective for frequency range on say plublic transport ie. buses as they are for sounds generated by neighbours and at home and for that I use headphones with ANC.

Overall would buy again and use over any other ear plugs.

    • You’re right that these style are better than foam for sleeping. But this is a white label of all the same product off Ali/Temu. If you ever need to buy again.

  • Anyone got a black Loop Switch 2 left side? I have lost my left one and i barely even used them

    • -1

Did you lose it in the Gunshop cafe? A tad late to be enquiring about them in here..

      • Nope, i just happened to have lost one

  • +2

From personal experience these are great for motorcycle riding (I have the loop switch). Cuts out a lot of the noise, comfortable in the ear underneath a helmet, still allows you to hear traffic. It's not meant to make everything silent, instead it helps with the long term hearing damage. I've used the cheap foam plugs, they tend to be uncomfortable in the ear, deadens too much noise, and can be tricky to put in (and wasteful) - not going back. I don't know how well the Aliexpress ones compare, but my Switches are very comfortable and I think in the context of a 'bargain' for Loop, these are a good price. Ordered two of these, a spare for me and one for the partner who is learning to ride.

  • +1

I have a set of engage ones, good for motorsport events where it gets loud and in the office when everyone is in but i've got work to get done (and i'm easily distracted).

They are expensive, but ive had mine a few years now, still holding up and no fuss fitment over the cheap disposable type.

Have also bought some cheapo pairs from aliexpress etc.. but find them fairly flimsy/tips pop off easily etc..

For an extra 20 bucks, probably better to get the good quality product.

  • Just looking at them it's easy to see they are not noise reduction plugs. They're just plugs, nothing special that justifies the price.

  • couldnt wear these. looks sus
