Are you thinking what I'm thinking B2?

  • +5

Be very careful with the amount of B6 that you take. It appears in many other types of multivitamin.

    Read more about it here

    • Yep. There’s 50mg of Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) in this Cenovis supplement which is way above the recommended amount.

Unfortunately I purchased a bottle of Mega B when it was last on sale and before I knew the dangers.

Soon Vit B6 wont be for sale without a prescription
The regulatory body is now considering an application to require B6 products to be stored behind the counter.
Australian law will change for the better.

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-01-08/vitamin-b6-toxicity-p…

Vitamin B6 toxicity, also known as peripheral neuropathy, can occur from excessive intake of vitamin B6, often through supplements, and leads to nerve damage, causing tingling, numbness, and pain in the extremities. While commonly found in multivitamins, energy drinks, and other supplements, high doses, even below the officially set upper limit, can trigger toxicity.
    Symptoms of Vitamin B6 Toxicity:

Peripheral Neuropathy: This is the most common symptom, characterized by tingling, numbness, burning pain, and weakness in the hands and feet.

Ataxia and Disequilibrium: Some individuals may experience difficulty with coordination and balance.
Muscle Weakness: Reduced muscle strength in the limbs can occur.
Skin Lesions: Painful, disfiguring skin lesions have been reported.

And cereals etc. Look at the label of many and they contain 0.4mg per serve (25% of daily intake). Wish they would stop adding things like B6 to food. It isn't required if diet is ok. B6 is plentiful in many foods and doesn’t need it. Vit C and the likes is fine as body only absorbs what it needs.

      • 50mg in this supplement vs 0.4mg :) .. I think some items will remove B6 or i think the regulatory body will set a max limit for general sale.

WARNING: this product contains 50mg of Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride). The TGA states that anything above 10mg of B6 requires a warning on the packaging and this is 5 times that amount.

Other commenters have posted links to articles covering the dangers of too much B6 so be careful.

  • so many comments about B6 because it was in the news recently.

but I've been taking supplements with high B6 for years and yes becoming more clumsy and bumping into things but so what?

I've also got microplastics in my brain, pfas in my blood, and I consume products with red3 petro chemical synthetic food dye because that's what consumers wanted (they got complaints the natural one wasn't red enough) so I just deal with it.

I'm being poisoned, but does that mean I just won't buy anything anymore that contains plastic in it's packaging? no. I just ordered something from amazon.

It's more about knowing and being aware i.e. one can over dose on it which can have serious consequences over time if not detected/checked.
Nothing wrong with a bit of education and understanding what it does seeing as this Post is selling the product in question. That's not to say some people may need it. Best check with doctor or ask pharmacist first if in high dose.

      • yeah that's fine. I guess there are people who are unaware.
