  • This or the Rapsodo?

Do you think this one would work well as part of a budget golf simulator setup in my shed?

    • mine's working fine. haven't used the Rapsodo so can't advice on that one…

    • I've been researching into getting this or the Rapsodo. Rapsodo is supposedly better but has a hefty annual subscription cost compared to Garmin.

      • Or a hefty lifetime subscription

    • Had it for 2 months and it wasn’t accurate in my garage. Crazy accurate on the range though.

Fortunately Garmin were good at giving me a refund.

      • Did you buy directly from Garmin? Or a third party?

        • From a golf shop, Garmin authorised the refund that the golf shop gave me.

          • @Fish and Grits: Interesting, did you return it to the golf shop or directly to Garmin?

I know I'm a bit off topic here but I've heard about Garmin's outstanding customer service before. Just curious about their processes

            • @pepsicles: I returned it to the golf shop, with an email from Garmin authorising the refund. Having just checked my correspondence with them, their conclusion was that my tin roof was causing interference.

But yes I have had a lot of Garmin products and their customer service has always been amazing whenever Ive had a warranty issue.

      • how faraway can your ball fly in the garage? I recon that would have some effect on the results

        • Also what surfaces are around it as it's radar based. Have heard the RCT balls can improve it but haven't tried myself.

          • +1

@Chuckld: I'm using the RCT balls at the golf simulator/gym on a Trackman. The readings on spin in not in italic, which someone mentioned to me that it's measured. If it's displayed in italic, it's estimated.

        • Can’t give you exact measurements as it was over a year ago now but I met all the minimum requirements.

I just went into my emails and the conclusion was that my tin roof of the garage was the culprit.

Just sold my R10 for 600 on FB market after upgrading to an R50.

This is a good price for a R10.
Remember folks, you get 5 free courses on E6 connect with the R10

  • Get a square lm. Although at half the price the garmin is a bargain

  • Rapsodo is night and day above this device, but its good value.
There is a lot of reported interference with both the R10 and Rapsodo around metal objects. You also need a lot of clearance behind and in front of your hitting spot.
As already suggested because the above issues i bought a Square launch monitor. Its a bit more but sits right next to the ball (no space required) and its a camera based system so it doesnt suffer from interference. It cant be used outside though, so unsure if thats a deal breaker for you…

    • Square is only indoor though right?

      • Correct

  • I bought one a few months back using the bupa 25% off - couldn't be happier with it. I'm a hack / high handicapper but looking to improve, gives me enough data to make tweaks but it is no trackman and doesn't try to be.

I have compared the two side by side at tracked golf, generally the carry is close enough to be of use, spin can be a bit iffy but honestly for my level it's perfect and also makes practising in the back yard a bit more fun (both with garmin golf and E6 connect). Plus I was already in the garmin ecosystem using my watch to track rounds and shots so made a bit more sense to go the R10 even though there are other newer options that are potentially better.

  • Been using one for probably nearly 2 years in a small indoor sim, in a built in shed. Setup is key. Absolutely worth the money though if you use it correctly, in the right environment. Forget about short range chipping under about 15m and the rest is pretty good and accurate.

I did have to cover an old window/box AC in screen to avoid interference and no/miss reads.
