Conclusions
You have to shake your head when you see and read about the performance of this $25 IEM. It displays a level of performance with a bit EQ that is world class. Feed it some well recorded music and you are there: the pinnacle of high fidelity sound. I don't care if you don't want to use an IEM. Get one of these (or the original Zero) and get calibrated on what good sound is.

As to whether to get the zero or zero:2, I would say that with the above EQ, Zero:2 sounds more to my liking than the original 7Hz Zero. That one though sounds more correct without EQ. Your opinion may vary.

I am happy to recommend the 7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2 IEM.

More bass and less treble peaks / troughs compared to the original neutral-ish Zero - see the frequency response .

  • Actual previous discussion thread.

I can't find another "meta" tuned IEM at this price bracket, other than the original Zero which I wouldn't recommend due to its treble. This is probably the best bang for buck IEM at the moment.

Best bang for the buck? Nothing beats the $5 EDC Pros from Aliexpress.

      • Do you have link to the $5 EDC? I wanna get an mp3 player and earbuds for when i go running again

    • Surely the Truthear Hexa is a strong contender for that title!

      • +1

I've heard a lot of good things about the Hexa, but I think its probably in a different price bracket at ~$110 vs ~$30 here

      • It definitely is a strong contender, but for most people $90 Hexa isn't "worth the price difference" compared to the $30 Zero:2, much like how a flagship phone isn't "worth the price difference" compared to a budget phone. The cheaper option is enough for most people, but people still buy the more expensive option because they value the better experience - despite it being worse "bang for buck".

Still, the Hexa is, from what I've seen, the best IEM you can get at its price - definitely worth buying if you're interested in good audio. Truthear might discontinue it with the release of the Pure, like how they discontinued the Hola after the Gate was released, so I'd recommend getting it soon if you're interested.

  • So if I want to listen to uncompressed music in a dark quite room are these the best bang for buck?

  • Thanks. Used to be into IEMs then went wireless then car audio. Will be interesting to see how the tech has moved on.

    • My only ever IEM was the Etymotic ER6i. I spent all my savings and bought them and my god were they heads and shoulders above the iPod earphones I was using earlier. To this day, they are still my favourite earphone simply because of how awesome they were at the time. I was always curious about the more expensive 4S and 4P range, as well as the stuff from Shure etc., but I too went wireless for convenience, and ended up with the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro.

Can anybody suggest a decent Bluetooth band that is 0.78mm pin compatible?

I've been using Airfun Pro 4 which I find very convenient. These look interesting but I prefer wireless.

  • What DAC amp are you using
    ?

  • Tangzu Waner II a good option at this price too.

I just bought the Kefine Kleen and found them to be quite an improvement. But obviously more expensive

  • How does it compare to Blon BL-03?

  • whats the recommendation for something a little bassier than these? I like them but i want them a little more mid-scooped i think

    • you could try eq

  • Would these be okay to plug into my PS5 controller or Playstation Portal? Or do they need more power delivered to them via an amp/dac?

    • I'm no expert, but I think any IEM should work fine plugged into a controller, an amp is only a requirement when using over ears with big drivers.

  • The stock cables hurt where they loop over my (big) ears so it’s painful to wear these for long periods. Is there any options to help with the comfort?

    • I think that's a pretty common way that IEMs work? Changing the cable is unlikely to help.

  • Glad to report that I received mine today, and I managed to find my old HRT Microstreamer. Even happier to find out that it still works and is compatible with my S25 Ultra. Running the headphones in now but early signs are good.

  • Better than moondrop chu 2? Doubt it

  • I had Linsoul 7Hz Salnotes Zero, good while it lasted … but did last long (only a few months), lost connection to one side.
