Not sure on the switch performance for this game but I play it on my Steam Deck and definitely recommend it for a portable device.
Runs well. I played it 99% in handheld mode. Looks and performs nicely.
There's a demo you can try. In my experience, it's not great, though YMMV. It's locked at 30 fps, and the loading times are a little long. It's getting a free Switch 2 update within the next couple months thankfully.
Go for it. I did buy it on switch 1, loading time is tad long, but currently playing on switch 2 the cut scene load time is less than 5 seconds now. I’m surprised how long I’m spending on each dive >30mins. Game is definitely the most beautiful enjoyable pixel game I played by far. Heaps of humor and modern reference, even let me played balatro, what a pleasant surprise. Heaps of mini games, bit of gamble, farming, aquarium, tons of fun. Be sure to grab all dlc, they brought back time limited Godzilla dlc, currently free on eshop, if anyone is reading this and missed out last year. Go NOW. Bought full price, no regrets!

Played on switch 1 and didnt notice any issues with the performance….
Anyone played this on the Switch and can comment on the experience? Was going to get this on Steam, but I think for this style of game I'd want to be able to play it portable and on the go.
