Skylight Acrylic Diffuser Dome

Hi,

Whilst helping out a friend with placing a skylight acrylic diffuser dome, I didn't properly twist it far enough for it to stay in place. Unfortunately it fell and broke. I've had a look on a few websites for a replacement, but the prices are ridiculous (~$200 plus postage). The diameter is 455mm and it's domed, not flat. Bunnings only have 300 mm and 400 mm diameter, so no luck getting it from there. Does anyone know of places to purchase one for under $100?

TIA

  • How ironic. You tried to help a friend to save him a few hundred dollars and instead, you ended up paying a few hundred dollars. I would suggest he should just learn from his mistake and get proper trades to do the job. Not sure why you are paying for it.

While I agree it was nice of OP to help out his friend, I would certainly seek to replace the damaged item if it became damaged due to my carelessness.

Is the full 455mm kit available? Or contact the manufacturer?
Is it meant to be 18inches? It is an odd size, but maybe available in the USA (or via Amazon) if it is actually an approximation for 18in.

  • You'll just have to pay whatever it costs, as soon as you can get it. Or lose a friend when it rains.
Also it's a bit hard without a brand name and part or ID number.

The diffuser dome is usually inside at the ceiling isnt it?

    • Any suggestions how to find the brand / manufacturer? Nothing is on the dome and the skylight is quite long, so not sure if it's possible to find this out.

Look for any markings, number, symbols unique to it,I guess.Where was it purchased & when?
