gosh tell me about it.. any idea why they've disappeared? :(
They aren’t on the website but there were in the Richmond store 2 weeks back.
I was told it would be months of waiting at Clayton store
They were place too high on the self. So nobody could reach them without a Ladda.
lol brilliant
Nicely done 😂
I read an unsubstantiated comment that said they were changing suppliers, so there was a gap in production. No idea if that’s accurate - knowing they were rebadged Panasonic, and Panasonic make envelops, I don’t know what a change in suppliers would mean..
So take that all with a suitable dose of salt.
Musk is using them in the Teslas 😜
My have been failing left and right even though it says made in Japan so not a fan of the Ikea anymore
They are about three years oldsame for me. or the AAA variety, it seems almost 1 out of 4 is a "weak" cell that shows under 1V when taking out of the toy, while others are ~1.2
Good for the price, but not amazing.
Any alternatives for AAA. Need around 24 for kids toys.
@bashar20: There are cheaper brands available if you don't mind chancing the quality or perhaps less long-term life, like Liitokala's.

Pretty significant price difference esp over 24 batteries. The reviews look ok with people testing the capacity. I'm going to give them a go but still waiting for them arrive lol
I was having difficulty finding them a couple of months ago, but of their staff told me they would have them back in stock eventually. We bonded over a shared enthusiasm for the Eneloop ecosystem. It was a bad day then a good day.
The current Ladda 2450mah are 500 cycles.
The latest generation Eneloop are 2100 cycles.
Buy the Eneloop.
They're baaaaaaack!
I wonder if these are still the best option or is it worth buying those USB C rechargeable Lithium Ion rechargeables (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0CXM191XV/ref=ox_sc_ac…)
Niche use case charging one at a time?
I believe advantage of lithium is proper 1.5 v and a more accurate charge level reported by software compared to NiMH
Yes agree. Those Amazon ones also have an equivalent capacity of 500mAh (1.5V at 750mWh) which is lower than the Eneloops at 800mAh.
Yes, for example my Omron blood pressure monitor reports "low battery change immediately" when the NiMH are about 1.3V still.
I can keep going, using the device though. but just have to deal with the warning and will never now when its actually low.I was going to get these for my omron portable monitor… is it still worth it? moreso concerned with the ecological impact of burning through disposables.
I don't get how the capacity of those isn't tiny due to the space all the charging circuitry takes up?
I "spoke" with IKEA on chat today to ask about the batteries (weird how they are selling chargers but not batteries". The response I got (specific for Sydney but likely applicable countrywide) was:
"The dates for re-stocking keeps getting shifted, so unable to say for certain when Sydney stores will get stock. The batteries are not discontinued. Just seems to be taking a very long time to get into the country."
I found an older Ikea AAA in one of my devices and they used to be 950mah!
Make capacity great again!Yeah older Laada were 950, post 2022 750mAh. Panasonic 950mAh are also discounted with prime day. Too rich for my blood, this 8 pack will do.
Haha, what you get in capacity you lose in longevity. All the high capacity batteries are only good for 500 cycles, the low capacity batteries are good for 2000 cycles.
As I read in another comment a long time ago, if you do a recharge say every 2 weeks which is already more frequent than anything I do, 500 cycles is over 19 years …
What's the OzB go-to charger for the Eneloop / Ikea rechargables ?
The Ikea one is actually not bad, not fast by any means but doesn't overheat
I've been happily using the eneloop fast charger for years. People say don't use fast chargers for the lifespan of your batteries, but I've had no problems.
I've been using Powerex MH-C9000 regularly for >10 years. Has been very reliable, good for discharge capacity testing. Works with AA and AAA NiMH and NiCd.
Looks similar to the Opus BT - C3100.
The Powerex has a bigger screen. This looks interesting. The load test seems like it would be of good use.
LiitoKala Lii-(402/500/600) is a common OzB favourite.

I've been using Nitecore D4 for years. It can charge various size and types like NiMH, NiCd and Li-ion
Thanks OP!
Are these any good? Never heard of them before.
You haven't heard of Eneloops before? Are you trolling us?
Hand in your badge matey. These are used to run windows 11 now!
I bought a packet of these last night
Thanks for the update, pretty slow day on the news feed this morning
Anyone got a link to decent price 4.1v lithiums in a AA form factor (10400 or whatever they are)?
For a led torch..
Cheers
Are these made in Japan or China?
Available again
give my Ladda back IKEA
