Need a couple 4 TB NAS drives and came across these - Seagate IronWolf Pro, NAS, 3.5" HDD, 4TB, SATA 6Gb/s, 7200RPM, 256MB Cache, 5 Years or 2M Hours MTBF Warranty that's about $90 cheaper than any shop in Australia.
Anyone bought and had to use warranty from Amazon USA? Also, I'm thinking they're refurbished as they use the word, IronWolf Pro Refresh but then when you read seller reviews, some photos show they're new.
Seller is Seagate store and there's no mention of this being a refurb or factory recertified, so I'd say you have a case for expecting a brand new drive.
As to how warranty from USA works, I dunno. Those drives claim a 3 year data rescue, so I'd imagine that if it fails in the first 3 years they'll get you to ship it back to and provide a pre-paid label. You should probably read the fine print and if you re not clear, use the online chat with Amazon to get answers. Save the transcript!
I purchased a few WD drives over the years, including Amazon US imports, but the only issue I had was one of the drives never turning up. I had to wait an extra month after expected delivery date until Amazon US declared the drive lost and issued a refund. I didn't want a refund, I wanted them to ship a replacement drive at the same price I purchased for, but they refused. The prices of the HDDs went up in that time and I also lost the discount coupon I had at the time of the original purchase.
