I highly doubt it.
That is against the Coles gift card's terms of use.
If you swipe or scan a Coles gift card at a Coles checkout at the time of payment, you should get an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal (and if you are at a self checkout, you should also get an error message on the checkout screen).
Sorry for the silly question but how does this work. If I buy a $100 gift card, do I pay $90 or does the operator change the card from $100 to $110 value?
You pay $100 upfront for the $100 gift card. However, when the gift card is activated, it will be loaded with $110 (i.e. 10% extra).
(The Coles staff member approving your purchase does not change the card's value from $100 to $110. This is done by whoever manages Myer gift cards at the time of activation.)
