    How much can it bench

  • +6

They are reduced pretty often and by a greater amount. I have had this in my wishlist for a while.

so you bought one cheaper, since you've had it on your wish list for a while?

  • +1

not a deal, it goes down to $259 quite often.

  • I think I remember seeing this for under 200 back in 2021. Amazon is inflating prices of their primary stock in certain categories (usually they stock bosh green for general power tools)

  • Bought mine just before Christmas last year for $275.

These are reduced to sub $300 on occasion… you just have to wait a few months between proper sales. Been out for a while now, maybe a new one coming?

Previously posted deals have it even cheaper… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/bosch-pbd-40

For anyone on a budget, consider the Milescraft Drill Mate: https://www.timbecon.com.au/products/milescraft-drill-mate-p…

I was on the hunt for a floor standing drill press for ages, but just can't justify it after getting the drill mate. It's pretty much permanently attached to my OG wired Ozito drill that refuses to die.

$46.99 @ Amazon AU prime day deal. Appreciate the recommendation, picked one up as don't have the space for floor standing drill press or even really a benchtop so this should help for the projects that call for some precision

  • These are location based. I'm a prime member and cannot get this deal. YMMV

  • For less than $50 more, you can buy a full-size bench drill, although without free delivery:
    https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/bench-pedestal-drilling-ma…

It has higher power, will chuck larger drill bits (up to 16mm), and the platform for holding your workpiece can be rotated and tilted.

Is the main advantage of the Bosch that it's more portable?

I think the real advantage according to the reviews is the easy speed and gear change. This will mostly be a woodworking drill and most woodworkers couldn't be bothered to change speeds on a belt. Accuracy is probably not there for a metal working device.

        Thanks for the clarification!

I agree, changing speeds on a drill with belts isn't fast nor easy.

  • Waiting for sub $300 myself, it's been as low as $205 on the last few years, not expecting that again but according to the camels goes under $300 fairly often
