FYI .. some AM5 CPU's will have issues with 48GB or more 6000 CL30 some CPU's wont be 100% stable with 64GB 2X32GB sticks at 6000 CL30 using stock EXPO or XMP
Symptoms are:
Once a week the PC wont boot requiring you to turn off at power point.
Once a week PC will memory train and take 1-2 minutes to boot into windowsThis is fixed by turning off XMP/EXPO so ram runs at 4800 CL40 taking the stain away from the CPU Memory controller.
Or using the 2nd EXPO setting that usually DDR5 5600 CL30 or something like that.running 32 or even 48GB's ( less then 64GBs ) is easier for the CPU memory controller to handle and the most stable systems are 32GB CL30 :)
my order is shipped I can't cancel anymore
Its amazon… you can put the ram into your PC and see how you go for 25 days @t 6000 CL30.. if you have any issues return it for a refund.
Hopefully when Zen6 comes out they will have fixed the memory controller
Zen4 and Zen5 use the same memory controller
Also make sure you are running the latest bios for your motherboard.. it can sometimes help.
missed it
do you think a better motherboard can handle biger ram like x870 can handle better than b650? I haven't bought motherboard yet. can't deside whether but a $240 b650 or $400 x870.
Motherboards with more copper layers 6 or even 8 layers can help with signal integrity but the memory controller itself is on the CPU.
B650 B850 X670 X870 They are all the exact same chip set.. Same exact silicon .. they just have different names thats all the 800 chip-set is 100% renamed.
Its a CPU memory controller lottery…
AMD is confident that all CPU's can do 32GB 6000 CL30
Many can also do 48GB 6000 CL30
Some can even do 64GB 6000 CL30
@RichardF89: I had a AMD Ryzen 7500F that was 100% stable with 64GB 6000 CL30
Change to a AMD Ryzen 7700 and its not 100% stable. i need to run at 5600 CL30memory controller lottery right there :)
And just like that, deal is done.
Can still get for $161 with the Zip deal.
Just missed it, spewing
Should clarify, link changed to a CL36 kit so the $161 deal is different
I would alway go to the support page of my mobo, and chech the memery compatability list before purchase, a.k.a. Qualified Vendor List (QVL).
The part number in the QVL has a garantee that it would work with my mobo.
I understand the QVL is not comprehensive, it would not cover all the memory sticks on the market.
But at least I know the particular part number would work with my mobo without gambling.
I still haven't bought motherboard yet. I bought everything before the motherboard
Here are two great options that both do PCIe 5.0 on GPU and Nvme with the latest bios and still hav great vrms. The cheaper one at $194 after coupon code
https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-tuf-gaming-b650m-e-wifi-dd…A step up in vrm and features for $264
I would say its also got an easier to use bios.
https://www.centrecom.com.au/gigabyte-b650m-aorus-elite-ax-a…These are MATX but they have full sized ATX versions of the same boards for a little more $.. they also have white versions and B850 versions. :)
thanks, someone also recommended the first one It is a great board. I may buy a 5080 later. I will use my old GPU first and buy a new GPU when the price is good. do you think the mATX board is too small for a 5080 card? I found a Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 for $240 from amazon with only PCIe 5.0 on m.2. but the vrms is only 8 phase.
https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0CSKH56WN/ref=ewc_pr_i…
@RichardF89: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 is not good.. Don't get it Go for the Gigabyte B650m aorus elite ax is worth the $24 extra. Centercom has free delivery
Matx is great because you can build your PC in smaller cases like the Lian Li DanA3 or Jonsbo D32 PRO " that i think is awesome.
https://www.ple.com.au/products/671127/jonsbo-d32-pro-glass-…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emR2J3Gn9ro < great video review/showcase
ATX vs matx .. if you need the extra pci-e slots under the GPU for some reason ATX is good.. if not matx is compact and fits smaller cases.
@vid_ghost: thanks I have full tower case so bigger motherboard is not an issue. Gigabyte B650 AORUS Elite AX V2 for $291. is it worth the price? it missed pcie 5.0 x16.
@RichardF89: Gigabyte B650 AORUS Elite AX V2 HAS PCIe 5.0 on the GPU slot.. .. not sure how warranty works with amazon UK purchases
@vid_ghost: I have never had an issue with the warranty with Amazon. I think because this is not sold by Amazon AU, the one option is to return and request a refund.
and also do you know where I can find which b650 support pcie 5.0 now. the video I checked is not recent and only shows old bios
@RichardF89: Ask google AI..
Most info on what board now supports PCIe 5.0 on the GPU with a new bios update are on redit posts.. the manufacture doesn't advertises it.. AMD doesn't want them too.
i have both these boards i listed and can 100% confirm that once the bios is updated PCIe 5.0 is fully working and stable on the graphics slot.
Asus TUF GAMING B650M-E
Gigabyte B650M AORUS ELITE AXMSI isnt bothering to enable PCIe 5.0 for the GPU with new bio's updates.
Not sure about asrock@vid_ghost: do you think I don't have to buy a x870 or x670. even the MSI X670E Gaming Plus WiFi is $350
as b650 is similar as other better ones
@vid_ghost: And also, if b650 supports PCIe 5.0x16 and PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2, what is the point of going to x670, x870 and b850? I don't need that many PCIe or M. 2. I know even PCIe 4.0 is fast enough for GPU and M.2 drive, as the M.2 5th-gen SSD is way too expensive
@RichardF89: There is no point going B650E or X670
But X670E has two B650 chip sets on the motherboard allowing for more PCIe 5.0 nvme slots. so where a B650 maxed out at 4 nvme slots a X670E can have 6 slots as it runs them off the chipset and not the CPU
X870E < same as X670E but AMD's mandates the inclusion of USB4 ports on x870 & x870E motherboards
The naming was supposed to make a product line so they can add or remove features. Even though every board was using the exact same chipset silicon and could infact run PCIe 5.0 on the GPU & nvme slot because its coming from the CPU itself & the chip set add's extra. The board partners just added or removed features for that sake of making more products to sell only.
@vid_ghost: I know X670, X670eand x870e has 2 chips. I don't think I need that many ports.
ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS is similar price as AORUS ELITE AX wich one is better?
@vid_ghost: Thanks very much. My last question, sorry for bothering you with so many questions. The B650 steel legend is also at a similar price. Do you think the AORUS is better than the steel legend. the steel legend need to wait for a month.
https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/motherboards/amd-socket-…@RichardF89: B650 steel legend is fine but avoid ASrock for now.. still not 100% confident they wont kill your CPU "drawing too much power by default"
Lots of people reported ASrock killing their Ryzen 9800X3D's its all over the internet and tech you tubers have made multiple reports on it.. ASrock has said they fixed it with a new bios after the computex trade show.. i wouldn't trust that as its hasn't been long enough to know for sure. .. be safe stick with the AORUS
Would it be best to buy local aussie stock for the AORUS motherboard?…
Easier for any warranty issues? talk to an amazon chat support and ask them what happens for Warranty? if its from the Amazon UK?@vid_ghost: Thanks, I am in Perth, and there aren't many local choices. If I buy online from the East Coast stores, it is even harder to claim the warranty. I bought a Roborock vacuum from Amazon, which is sold by Roborock and shipped by Amazon. I tried to contact Roborock for a warranty claim. They asked me to return and do an assessment. Then I contacted Amazon, and they just asked me to return and request a refund. I received the refund straight after I shipped it. If it is sold by Amazon Australia, I should have an option for replacement. I think it is similar for items sold by Amazon Global. I will check with them.
And the steel legend looks very solid with 8 layers PCB. the AORUS ELITE AX was 8 layer then the later version they changed to 6 layer
@RichardF89: Stick with the AORUS ELITE AX…. :) last thing you want is any issuing, your less likely to run into them with the AORUS ELITE AX
@vid_ghost: thanks again. I also found a MSI MPG B650 Edge WiFi for the same proce and very similar as AORUS ELITE AX. and it is 14+2+1 VRM power.
@RichardF89: I also found the ASUS ROG Strix B650-A is at a similar price on Amazon, but I gave up now, just bought AORUS ELITE AX v2, thanks very much.
QVL list = memory will work yes
QVL list does not = memory will overlock to its XMP or XMPO settings stable
Its an Intel XMP kit, not an expo kit.. so prroalby not that suitable.. for those not into tweaking..
Amazon seem to be quickly disably the coupons.. for any of the better deals..
it shows and expo in the title
classic bait and switch…
the link no longer goes to the Cas 30 kit..
the kit on special (Cas30) was $166 with 20% ..my invoice
states
"Silicon Power SP032GXLWU60AFDH DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) Zenith RGB 6000MHz (PC5-48000) 288-pin CL30 1.35V UDIMM Desktop Memory RAM White"…
this kit is an intel kit… when Iooked it up before I ordered..here is a link to another retailer.. that no longer stocks this kit
https://www.umart.com.au/product/silicon-power-xpower-zenith…
note no Expo mentioned.
the Cas36 kit is an xmp/expo kit..
Silicon Power website indicates AMD Expo is supported: https://www.silicon-power.com/web/au/product-Zenith_DDR5_Gam…
Wrong link, here it is: https://www.silicon-power.com/web/au/product-Zenith_DDR5_RGB…
"Ready for Intel® XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO™ for ultra-fast one-click overclocking"
good price but just bought the 96g one earlier today
