Dual Band Wi-Fi Camera/Baby Monitor

Looking for recommendations for a good (but relatively cheap) dual band wi-fi camera that can be used as a baby monitor to stream to phone. (no subscription fee BS either please). Any suggestions?

I suggest getting a dedicated unit that has its own dedicated monitor and used its own connection. No subscription required box is ticked there.

Using your phone constantly has a monitor that would get annoying and drain your phone easily. Plus, what are you going to do if you get a phone call or want to use your phone? You wouldn't be able to see bub.

We have a Vtech similar to this and its been great for our son.

      This is the correct answer

  • Why does the baby want dual band?

Seems pretty good. Apparently this hybrid-connection mode of having the option of connecting via WiFi while also having the option of connecting via a local connection is unique

I'm using something similar that I believe also has this hybrid connection mode now (some kind of Nannio, not sure exactly what model - not the Nannio comfy donbot mentioned below) but I'm having issues with it (lags badly - which makes me think it's either not a hybrid connection and is solely WiFi, or is actually hybrid and has bad range) so I'm looking for an alternative

Nannio comfy - we got ours from amazon for circa $100 or so, and have been solid - we have two in the house, one for each kid overnight.

We found camera use is overrated particularly for tiny ones (if they cry, you basically go in to check them anyway), so its all about the sound, and when they get bigger and mobile - you can pan/tilt to find out what they are upto if they are fossicking around in their room during sleep times. Camera is good enough for what you'll need to see IMHO, and save your dollars.

We have a Tapo C120 ($59 at Amazon) specifically because it has IR LED's that are invisible dont glow red so baby won't stare at it… I repurposed an old tablet as a dedicated screen in the kitchen and it works well for the price, but not as easy to setup as the vtech things etc
