  • Am tossing up between the greenworks deal and this ozito mower. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-36v-2-x-18v-460mm-brus…. Any advice?

    • +2

Depends on how the Greenworks one works, but the 60V should be more powerful in theory. It also comes with a line trimmer. Replacement batteries look to be very expensive, where Ozito ones are a dime a dozen.

The 60V version will leave the Ozito in its dust. I am already well engrained into the Ozito ecosystem, but for my electric mower I bought a 60V Ego because I wanted as close to the torque of my old Victa as possible. The Ozito is regularly much cheaper than that too. I've been hanging for a deal on an Ego whipper snipper for months now - so I think this combo is great for $700.

    • Heard good things from Greenworks owners on the 60v stuff, previous stuff not so good, jump on the gardening forums, my experience with Ozito battery stuff has been abysmal, sure, the brand has it's fans, but I've experienced some terrible performance problems, batteries dying even when charged early & kept out of hot situations & one tool with an intermittent problem that seems to know when I was at Bunnings trade counter & wouldn't display the problem till I walked outside!!! a light in a set died while I was 218k's from a bunnings & needed the thing! & 2 115mm brushed angle grinders burning out under very light load & use.

I bought the greenworks off a previous deal here and overall I would not recommend it. This is the 40V system so may not apply to the 60, but every battery I've had for it has been DOA, initially they replaced batteries and charger, then a battery. Additionally there doesn't seem to be discharge protection on the batteries, they'll often get to the point where the charger just won't recognise them and I have to jump them off a charged battery.
They also seem to overheat quite easily, so you need to leave them for 30+ min after using before you can recharge.
The whipper snipper is great, i love it. The mower is underpowered, maybe this is less of an issue with the 60v.
While i love having the electric system, I wish I'd spent a bit more on either the 60v but probably a better brand.

    • thanks for the input mate, I will keep looking for kogan 20v shit to go on sale then. LOL

      • Kogan, stuff good for 13 months then dies, and try getting warranty honored … awful company that has had massive fines twice because they rip customers off and lie about specials!

rip customers off and lie about specials!

          How I wish it's just Kogan…

    • the 40v mower is underpowered. I've got a 24v mini chainsaw and it's great. the 40v blower, edger/trimmer is really good. Their 24v drills & angle grinder are great. I had 1 battery issue with an original, but Greenworks Aus sent me out another. I've bought 4 OEM ones (4ah ~$100ea) and they're fine.

I bought the 60V greenworks self propelled 21” bundle that came with the mower and the whipper snipper +4ah battery 1.5 years ago.
    Cost me $1099.
Can’t fault it. Plenty of power and charges quick.

I got this deal from a previous post and my experience with it has been great. I moved to a house with a big yard and was using a borrowed Ryobi petrol. The 60v is not as powerful, and does not cut as low, but it very closely almost does the same job and without fuss (electric). It does take 2 charges to do the whole lot but the battery charges pretty fast (45 mins or so).

The whipper snipper is an absolute beast. I’ve only ever used it on low, but that’s already more powerful that my old 240v. I don’t have experience with a petrol one.

I’ve not had the low voltage problem mentioned by another poster but not to say that’s a problem waiting for me down the line. So after a year or so I recommend this deal, I’m looking to expand with some other 60v stuff.

I have the Greenworks 60v mower and line trimmer combo from a promo last year, but the mower is a more advanced model (higher price bracket).
    I'm absolutely rapt with both.
60V gives them a bit of go and they knock over whatever I need on a 1/2 acre block.
The mower works well on wet grass ( rarely do this though) and I'm a bit slack on mowing at times, so my grass can start to get a bit tall, but my model increases the blade speed if needed, or I can mow that section on Turbo.
I mow couch grass on #3 normally and 4 if it's a bit long for reference.

Batteries charge in maybe 25 minutes and last well according to the use (longer grass, using self propel etc…). Batteries are pricey, but have a warranty and I can only say that they are still great after 16 months. It's a cost I am prepared to cop if need be for the overall performance I get here.
I have 2 batteries and that's enough to get stuff done here.

No more petrol, oil, spark plugs etc and turning it on its side to clean is no problem.
I am the first to admit that I'm not mechanically minded, so less maintenance for me.

Line trimmer surprised me and does really well. I love picking it up and pulling the trigger to start it straight away.

Bought the edger attachment for the line trimmer and that is great.

After borrowing a 36v mover, the 60v feels like a beast. It's a noticeable difference.

Oh and all the gear is so quiet.

I wish I had moved from petrol to this years ago.
I have no problem with petrol gear. This 60v stuff is less maintenance for me and it's way quieter.

I tossed up between the Greenworks 60v on a deal a while back and Ego. Coming from a petrol mower, best decision I made.

Super easy and fun to mow, starts in a snap, well work it. Can't suggest on Ryobi, but from my past research Ryobi didn't compare and was a much lower class.

IMHO get the Greenworks. You'll be very happy.

We got the Greenworks self propped one from a deal last year. Very happy with it and my neighbours borrowed it too to try and were surprised how well it cut and how long the battery lasts.

No issues thus far and would buy again.
