I'll save the money for something decent. A refurbished notebook is probably a hundred dollars more.

Note: this will stay on Android 12 and the security updates ended in November 2023

Excellent present for your loud neighbour, an old friend who stole your business ideas, and other people you happen to dislike

Are you sure you want to spend your money on these people? You're very kind.

Some people pay good money to watch their enemies get upset. This is terrible tablet, but a great method for annoying someone

  • any recommendations on a 10" tablet to use as a homeassistant display? i imagine you can probably get away with something a little cheaper than this?

Biggest problem i found was to find an old tablet that stays on bright, does not dim when not touched for a while.

Second hand tablets work well. Even Ipad 1 can be used but only via a VNC player.
Get your hands on a free or $5-10 tablet and try.

I've been able to pick up a Lenovo Duet 10 and Duet 3 (11") around the $100 mark used on Marketplace. Cheap as they are usually ex-school. Can stick to ChromeOS if you just need the browser or low-end android apps, but also easy enough to get Linux running via PostmarketOS.

The reason I recommend these over equivalent Android tablets is that they come with a magnetic keyboard+trackpad cover with a built-in kickstand.
