I have heard the rode one has much better sound quality. But DJI is decent.

  • Any experience with this and other models/brands?

    • Rode sounds the best, is the easiest to use, has a nice little plug for your phone, but it is also the biggest. The DJI is the smallest, and the sound is still pretty good. I don't think it's quite as pleasing to the ears as the Rode. I have both. I use the Rode when I just want to record, but when I'm using my gimbal, the DJI mic attaches really easily to the gimbal, so that makes it easy to use for that.

      • I have an old dji gimbal too, I am thinking to get into interview style videos for socials, do you think it's enough for getting into the wireless audio? I know rode is the best but bulky and pricey, I might get maybe 1 job per year at this stage tbh

        • im not sure when they made the connection between the gimble and the mic integrated. im using the 7p.

if looking for cheap get something like this: https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005008387432699.html?spm=a2g… dont run any noise suppression or anything on the mic- and do a little post production and itll be fine.

          • @StorminNorman: Will this work like dji? the sound quality?

            • +1

@newaim: the hollyland or the neewer are ok ok too.

if rode is 10. dji is 8 or 9.

these others are 6 or 7. but when put through even modern auto sound processors will produce fine sound.

it is do you want to pay 35 or 200 for the mics. there is a difference but the 'get what you pay for' value depends on your use case.

    • The receiver on the DJI Mic 2 is bulky and the USB-C connection can become unreliable over time. I use a phone holder with the receiver screwed down to a cold shoe. The cold shoe mount just fits loosely so I had to get an adaptor with ball bearings and a screw to bolt the receiver on properly.

Audio quality is good. I use Rode lavs with the DJI Mic 2 transmitters. If I can't use the audio going into the phone then I can use the recording on the transmitters.

I've been contemplating the DJI Mic 2 but the receiver looks similarly awkward.

I ended up getting a Lark A1. Receiver is much smaller. Transmitters are smaller too. Deadcats are a bit awkward but much much easier to use compared to Lark M2.

A1 audio is ok… M2 too (lost a magnet and can't easily buy another so bought the A1). The convenience of the receiver size and quick setup outweighs the drop in quality. That said, I'll switch back to DJI Mic 2 with lavs for peace of mind because there's a backup on the transmitters.

      • That's a great insight. Thanks

  • Why all youtubers are using dji mic cliped to their shirt?

    • probably because they didn't disclose they were sponsored.. 😀

  • -2

So the chinese gov can hear them better

  • May be a dumb question… could these work as mics to broadcast sound from them to speakers live?
Or are they only used to record content?

    • I like how you think.

they might work actually. just need to connect mic output jack to mic input on speaker. might need to buy a adapter cable though to connect to the speaker depending on the plug it uses.

I think one of the popular uses for product like this, is actually plugging mic out jack to the input of whatever camera you are recording on. this saves you from having to edit and combine the audio/video later. it's all recorded and synced in the camera, and you just have to edit video later.

so yeah it should output the live audio from wireless mic>receiver>mic out>speaker.

also I think the 48hour claim is "total" by recharging in the case. kind of like TWS earbuds. so like maybe 4~5 hours of live mic at a time.

  • Price appears to be 210? Anything I'm missing?
