So my car window got smashed in and some stuff was stolen from my car. Any advice for getting it replaced?
O'brien glasses quoted $502 over the phone. Any advice/suggestions on how to get it done for much less than that?

Where are you located, google search your suburb, call the first 3 results, or yellow pages online.
CHeck if your insurance company has a windscreen protection insurance for less than $502. If so get that "for next time"…

Call and/or go to local 'wreckers'.
Buy the glass (easier to get it with the rest of the assembly - the metal it sits in etc.)
Remove door trim.
Clear out broken glass (use gloves) and then vacuum.
Replace glass assembly.
Test window.
Replace door trim.

I've replaced car side windows before.
bought the glass from a wrecker and it took about 2 hours to do.
pretty straight forward.
you could probably google the workshop manual or youtube a video on how to do it.
you would probably need some epoxy glue to fix the glass to the window winder mechanism so it stays in place.

Have you got any mobile guys around? The local mobile car glass replacement guys are heaps cheaper and sometimes can get secondhand from the wreckers.
Also, check with your insurance if you don't happen to have additional windscreen insurance? (I assume we're talking about your windscreen or is it a side window?)
