Hello all, seeking advice on putting together the final piece (aside from GPU as I don't have a spare kidney to sell yet) of this mismatch set of components I have going on. All bought through various sales so I believe I have done at least ok.
Parts bought so far:
CPU : 7800X3D $430 (Current i7-6700K)
Cooler : Artic Liquid Freezer III Pro $125
RAM : Corsair Vengence 32GB 6000 CL30 $129
Storage: Cruicial T700 1TB WITH heatsink x 2 $80ea
PSU : Corsair RM850x 80+ Gold $145 (the 750 was OOS at the time)
Case : Old NZXT Phantom 820
GPU : 5070ti or 9070XT …. Still HODL for pricing….but rocking a 3060 8GB OC for now…. yes bottleneck but yeah…
So initially I was simply looking for an ATX board that will fit the 2 NVMe with the heatsink…. but have since also read I could just take that heatsink off and use the motherboard heatsink since some slots are under GPU…
The reason I have put amazon only is because they stuffed up something with an order/promo and I have around $120 credit (that is NOT my money) sitting there to be used for this purchase. Going down the motherboard rabbit hole and reviews I'm even contemplating the MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk Wi-Fi from Amazon UK which is (currently) $515, so with my credit will make it $395, but in true OzB fashion that's more than what really want to pay and probably won't 'need' it.
Will I be overclocking? 90% no…..maybe if there was an inbuilt OC function I would turn that on? I may add another single 2TB nvme on top of my 2x 1TB one (really don't think I would add a 4 but you never know re prices), so I have seen a lot of info about pci e lanes etc etc which is going a bit over my head.
Primary use is Gaming but wife has around 129381629293167896 million photos/videos so the future storage expansion will be for that …. and dont judge but I might start playing CoD again so will need something for those 100+GB patches
I did some research in the last couple of days. I ended up buying this Gigabyte B650 AORUS Elite AX V2 for $290 from Amazon DE but it sold out now.
This MSI PRO B650-S WiFi V1 is a prett good and cheap option it has a 10% off voucher. I has another $10 off voucher yesterday. I was thinking about cancelling mine and bought MSI PRO B650-S instead as the final price was $190.
