Looking for Cardiologist / Electrophysiologist Recommendations in Melbourne

Hello everyone,
I was recently diagnosed with SVT by a cardiologist (And was also prescribed with a beta blocker, Atenolol)
He also recommended me to see an electrophysiologist.

If anyone in Melbourne can recommend an electrophysiologist, that would be great.
Actually i am also looking for a new cardiologist (Didn't really like the bedside manner of the original cardiologist)
I would prefer someone from the east or inner east side, and also the CBD.

PS : Thank you for the replies so far.

  • Ablate the accessory pathway and be done with the SVT ;)

(assuming correct diagnosis, and it's not PAF / AVNRT / runs of APCs/VPCs)

  • Do your research on your existing cardiologist's skill and reputation, before ditching them.. Bedside manner is optional with specialists, being an excellent practitioner is not. At the end of the day, you want a lifesaver, not a bestie.

    • This is good advice. My Urologist is quite taciturn and seems almost remote and this put me off him a bit. But over time, and particularly when I pushed him on his recovery statistics, and why he gave me certain advice I realised he was extremely competent and actually very caring.
He wouldnt be my first choice to go fishing with, but I wouldnt be keen on anyone else chopping into my naughty bits…..

Did the doctor also tell you to exercise more, if you don't want to waste money on avoidable medications?
Whatever they say, they can't just order you a new heart.
What are you hoping or expecting for an outcome?

    Dr Ramanathan Parameswaran

    A leader in the field

Did my ablation and been good ever since !

    Lovely bloke too :)

    • Thank you for the recommendation.
May i ask, how much was the ablation procedure ?
And did you have private health insurance ?

      • +1

No private health and it was free. I have no idea how Medicare works, YMMV

Well I did have to pay a few hundred for the prelim visits, but effectively nothing for what was done

        • Ah i see ! I hope you are SVT free now and feeling great.

@desafinado74: Thanks. I had AF, but Ram will know what SVT is and how to fix it! 👍

  • Jims Cardiology

    • Only if he also does Electrophysiology with great bedside manner and cleans up after.
