I got an intel Nuc X15 about 3 years ago from a deal here. Its a beast of a laptop, and I love it. However I want to connect a second display up to it, and I read online (and in the device manual) that it supports display over USB C > DP. Great, I got a cheapo cable off Amazon (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DSPPJ4V4). Unfortunately it doesn't work with either of my monitors! I tested my work laptop which is a Dell, works fine outputting signal to both monitors with the cheap cable. So I'm thinking the issue could possibly be the cheapo cable or the laptop itself? It definitely says online that it supports USB C to DP output, unless I am going crazy. Any other Ozbargainers got this laptop and can confirm that USB C to DP works? Should I get a DP 2.1 cable? A USB C to DP adapter and just use a DP cable? I'm open to anything at this point. The model of the laptop is LAPKC71E. Cheers
Intel NUC X15 - USB C to DP Not Working

Comments
There’s no specific option in the bios to enable DP over USBC. But in the bios the thunderbolt 4 port is enabled which was all I could see.
In device manager everything is up to date unfortunately :(
I’ve got a dell dock/hub that I could test, I’ll give that a shot.
Are you daisy chaining the two monitors together? If so, have you tried just unplugging the daisychain DP cable and just trying with one monitor only?
Not daisy chaining, I’ve got a USBC and HDMI port on my laptop, where the USB C is going to DP on one monitor and HDMI going to another. But it refuses to work both at once.
So it works if you unplug the HDMI cable and just have the USB C plugged in? Ie it will work with one monitor via USB > DP ? That would seem to point to a laptop issue rather than a cable one.
**Yes -However it only works sometimes. HDMI works flawlessly.
I reckon it’s the port or laptop itself, but it’s weird because this is the first time I’ve ever used the USB C port😅Anyways. I’ve ordered an adapter instead and have a DP cable I’m just gonna try. Thank goodness for amazons return policy lol.

https://amzn.asia/d/3E5irtGAlso contacted Intel support and they basically told me they can’t help because the laptop is discontinued, which is shit.
@pineapple12: Fair enough. Its about all you can try at this point. Does sound a bit like a port issue. A USB dock may be an alternate solution
@seanfoite: No worries. Cheers anyways mate. I also just thought I’d add on, both displays now work when the power cable is unplugged. This is driving me nuts
@pineapple12: Oh wow. That's definitely a hardware issue then i would assume. That same USB C port can be used for charging so might be a loose connection somewhere in there
@pineapple12: Or you could maybe try a cheap USB C docking station with multiple HDMI outs. https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-USB-C-Docking-Station/dp/B0…
@seanfoite: Yep. If this cable doesn’t work that I got, I’ll try that instead. Hopefully it can output display usb c> hdmi?
@pineapple12: It should be able to, but what you've described sounds increasingly more like a hardware fault. But its definitely worth a shot as it would be way cheaper than getting it serviced.
@seanfoite: All good… i think I may have found a workaround, its so weird but I guess its fine for the time being lol:
1. Turn on laptop with charger unplugged
2. Plug in USB C to DP cable
3. Plug in HDMI cable
4. Plug in charger cable
Gonna give that a go… cheers mate
Shouldn't need Displaylink for native Thunderbolt.
If you're using Windows 11, you won't need any Thunderbolt drivers either as they're baked into the OS.
Try the UEFI BIOS update and driver pack from here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/198135/…
Try checking if DP over USB-C or Thunderbolt is enable enabled in the bios?
Or maybe update Thunderbolt firmware if there’s an update.
Any dock or hub you could try the laptop with?
