Hope everyone's surviving winter! We've got a beautiful washed Ethiopian on offer - need we say more ;)

We've also got a fun, fruity and complex filter from Ijen Lestari in Indonesia.

Stoked to also be welcoming back some deals from CodeBlack. If you haven't tried one of their espresso blends, why not give em a go?

Don’t forget, you can also build your own bundle of 250g bags if you don’t want to commit to a kg of one coffee. Or, you might just love variety! 🙂 Scroll down to see how this works.

As always, I’m here for any questions or recommendations.

PS. You might have seen some orders going out on Tuesday. We're suuuper close to bringing back Tuesday dispatch as a regular thing. Let us know if you'd like this :)

Enjoy,
Tim

  • Hi Tim,

I noticed that Padre is sold out when will this be coming back?
    Thanks

    • Full range back in stock tomorrow, however those orders won’t be dispatched until Tuesday.

Depending on what you’re after we may be able to get it dispatched tomorrow.

Shoot me a DM or email and I’ll see what I can do.

      Cheers,
      Tim

  • Hi Tim. What's the recommendation for a flat white? Thanks

    • For a flat white, would recommend the Candid blend :)

      Cheers,
      Tim

      • I enjoyed candid as a long black, I jwcwe tried with milk.
Do you recommend any others similar to the Candid?

  • Which one would you recommend for milk-based drinks ?

    • My usual starting point for milk based drinks is Candid. It's a good all round medium roast.

      Hope that helps?

      Cheers,
      Tim

  • On the website how do i know which ones are discounted?

I am looking for milk based coffee more on the chocolatey end any recommendations?

I usually buy the lime blue brazil beans, wanna give this a try

  • For value packs (1kg or more of the same coffee): https://www.directcoffee.com.au/collections/value-packs?usf_…

    For bundles (200g and 250g bags): https://www.directcoffee.com.au/pages/bundle-deals

Sure thing, I'd suggest either the E.W. blend or Candid blend. Hope that helps?

    Cheers,
    Tim

  • Hi Tim,

I've added the Candid 2x 250g Espresso to my cart however its still showing $32

    • Hmm that's odd, let me take a look

      • Seems to be working on my browser, do you mind trying to open the following link in an incognito/private window? https://www.directcoffee.com.au/a/cart?cart-token=1TWvRV&lin…

        • Ahh yes its working now, however its showing $8 for standard shipping. Is this correct?

          • @mushyy: Hmm, it shouldn't be charging you shipping. Can you PM me your email so I can organise this for you manually?

  • Something wrong with Atypical - Indonesia Ijen Lestari CM Natural - Filter roast - 250g? Im trying to mix a kg of the 3056 with a small bag of filter beans, but no matter what i do, they always show as full price?

    • Just to clarify, are you adding a 1kg bag of 3056?

      • i tried a mix of everything, a 1kg bag, 4x250 even removing the 3056 and adding 2x250g bags of the Lestari CM Natural alone, the ' Lestari CM Natural' always comes at full price.

  • Hi! Whats the taste difference of the 3056 versus something like Candid? I typically drink Candid or Padre WC, but would be interested in giving it a try if its any good?

    • Sure, so it's not as complex (different elements) as 3056 but it's quite similar in roast style (medium). However, it's more complex than WC in my opinion. My gut feeling is that if you enjoy 3056 you'll enjoy Candid as well. If you were coming from something a bit darker like E.W. or Heavyweight I'd probably moderate your expectations a bit more.

      Hope that helps?

      Cheers,
      Tim

      • Perfect, thanks!

        • Awesome :)

  • Any recommendations for Aeropress?

    • If you like something fruity I’d suggest the Ijen Lestari :)

  • There is something wrong with your Shopify account or something. None of the prices in the post are showing up in the cart?

    • Sorry to hear you’re having an issue.

Was there a specific product you were after? Please PM or email me if so. Also, what browser and device are you using?

      Cheers,
      Tim

      • Safari. I’d rather not use a static cart link like you’ve done for the other commenters as I like to put things in and out of my cart before buying.

I’m also a bit weirded out that my OzB profile would be linked to the purchase.

Anyway, I went with one of the Lime Blue deals instead.

        • No problem, I only offer as a way of helping to solve the problems occurring in your browser. And to prevent those issues from occurring for others. 100% respect your desire to maintain privacy.

You can always add and remove items once you open one of the share cart links.

Hope we can make something work for you next time.

          Enjoy your coffee :)

          Cheers,
          Tim

  • Hello, any decaf options?
    Thanks.

    • Let me work on this for you!

    • +1
      • Yay! Thanks. Whats the feedback like for this one. Partner just started the decaf journey… looking for a decent decaf - hopefully this one would be good :D Probably too late to ask this now, just bought 3kg of it…

        • +1

Very balanced coffee with milk, will taste a bit punchier if it's being consumed black. Hope that helps? Cheers, Tim

  • Hey there,

Would love to take advantage of a larger order, but from what I've been told, things tend to go stale within a couple of weeks? Given you sell some pretty large amounts, what do you advise there?

    • Thanks for the questions!

I'd say that 2 weeks is on the extreme side. Within reason, most coffees kept in the bag and away from sunlight should be tasting pretty good for a month.

Most orders for the laarge quantites are usually group buys, for an office or being frozen. If it's just your household, I'd be steering you towards the freezing option. A lot of options around how to freeze coffee although it can be rabbit hole. However, I'd say the golden rules are that oxygen is your enemy and that it's best for each portion to be as small as possible (ideally individual doses although this can be impractical).

      Hope that helps?

      Cheers,
      Tim

      • Cheers Tim!

So just pulling a single dose out the freezer and then grinding while still frozen or letting it come to room temp?

Got any suggestions when it comes to storage options for single doses?

        • Certainly do!

          I've tried these two products:

No allegiance to any brand here, and I'm sure you can DIY or find a cheaper option!

In terms of the grind frozen or defrost question - this really depends on grinder. For a commercial grinder that can grind a 21g dose in seconds I'd say grind frozen. On domestic grinders (inc. most hand grinders), I don't have strong views and really sway both ways. If you're comfy with it, I'd start by grinding the beans frozen and then making adjustments based on taste.

          Hope that helps?

          Cheers,
          Tim

        • Single doses can be ground straight out the freezer. I do this with up to 90g doses without any issues. I use a Fellow Ode grinder for home use. Ymmv depending on what you're grinding with. I weight and vac seal my beans for freezing. Works a treat.

  • Is the deal over?

    • Nah it’s still running 👍

      Cheers,
      Tim

  • Hi Tim,
How long is the deal active for?
I need coffee in about 2 weeks time, so if I have time I'd like to hold off a little

    • Should be doable. Which coffee/s are you interested in?

      Cheers,
      Tim

  • Hi Tim,

Thanks, I am after 1 kg Candid. Is there any other coffee that you can recommend which wont taste similar. We like to rotate between 2 coffees so we would like a different taste (milk based) to candid. And do you want me to put in order now or wait until 2 weeks?

    • Sure thing! Code Black Seasonal is a much fruitier blend for milk based drinks. Best to wait 2 weeks to put in the next order :) Hope that helps? Cheers, Tim

  • Giving Candid a go, great pricepoint thanks.
Any other blends you recommend that are on the darker side, for both milk + black espresso? Flatwhite and long black drinkers here.

    • +2

Thanks! Sure thing, E.W. and Heavyweight are the go too :)

  • Hi Tim, has this deal expired? I was looking at getting some Cartel Grand Master and the price seemed to have gone up between last night and today? Thanks!

    • Hey there, Grandmaster hasn’t changed prices in a little while. What price were you expecting to see when you were on the site yesterday? Cheers, Tim

      • It was below $60 but ticked above it yesterday. All good - I've ordered another blend for this time.

        • It's $59.95 on subscription, but not sure when the regular RRP went up tbh. Sweet, glad you found something else enjoyable :)
