Car and Home Insurance [Victoria]

I've been with RACV for ages and made maybe 10 claims (about 7 no fault car incidents in the past 3 years, and a few minor claims on house and car over the past 30+ years) since people keep hitting my car since Covid, and one to do with the house), which have been sorted out fairly well.

After a recent incident that they didn't handle so well (not looking after a long time multi policy client), I'm wondering what other "non budget" insurers are out there to offer good levels of insurance and at least give me some bargaining power / alternatives to go to. I know we lost NRMA.

Can anyone suggest where to start? I haven't looked at changing insurance in a long time.

I see there's CanStar but I think that's a commercial group being paid to specially promote some companies.

More Info
Most of those claims were no fault car incidents that have happened since Covid.

I've had a few people hit my car while I was driving (one was paying attention to their bag on the passenger seat, one changed lanes without checking if there was a car there).

I've also had a heap of people hitting my car in various car parks.
The worst was a driver who couldn't get into a spot. Instead of then backing straight into an empty spot behind them, they turned as they reversed, didn't go into the 2nd empty spot, didn't hit the car next to me, and then reversed at speed into my car, which was 3 spots away from where they'd been trying to get in.

So no, I'm not causing accidents and this isn't stuff that is costing my insurer.

It has been unsettling.

10 claims? It seems like they're intentionally giving bad service so that you stop renewing with them.

Are tye 10 claims hail paint job related?

  • Are the 10 claims vehicle or house-related?

    What was the recent incident?

I have RACV Car Insurance and after an incident with a Kangaroo, it took 3 months for the vehicle to be fixed. It was a bloody nightmare and RACV were of no help on pushing the repairer. They only spoke to me about it all once I got the vehicle back and then offered 0 compensation.

    10 claims…

Folks, this is why everyones premiums are going up in Home Insurance.

  • The idea of insurance isn't a claim-athon whereby your aim is to claim over and over get back the value of your policy bill every year + profit.
If your 10 claims are like flood events etc, of course your later claims will be harder yards. Maybe they expect customers to share the risks and relocate or adapt.
If there's one thing you can guarantee , insurance companies share data. Make of that what you will.

Go to another company, leave RACV (NRMA) for us needing cover for rare occasional claims with low premium costs.

  • I updated the description above.

I think I got a bit numb to it and forgot 10 claims would look odd to most people.
I was like WTF is with all these people running into my car or driving into it when it's in the car park.
I'm thankful I could at least identify them all.

I'm guessing not many other people have had to claim about 7 motor incidents in the past 3 years.
